Living Colour’s Hit Single “Cult of Personality” Was Played in the Series Finale of “The Walking Dead”


Last night (November, 21st 2022) was the series finale of The Walking Dead on AMC. Based on the comics and graphic novels from Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore (later Charlie Alard), the series ended after eleven years. In a pivotal scene in the episode, the survivors drop the needle of Living Colour’s 1980s Shredding Metal classic “Cult of Personality!” Bits of the song can be heard over the sequence which was a great blast from the past. The video was a staple of MTV during regular rotation in 1988- 89 and has 62 million plus views on YouTube. Also, heard in the episode was Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide!” The series has often used rock and metal music, notably Motorhead a few years back.

Riot Fest 2021 Adds Patti Smith, Alkaline Trio, The Flaming Lips and More


Riot Fest has made the final weekend additions to the 2021 event, kicking off September 19th, 2021, which will be the fest’s first-ever Thursday Preview Party. Patti Smith and Her Band and Alkaline Trio will join Thursday night, with additional sets from Joyce Manor (performing their self-titled 2011 debut), WDRL, and Kristeen Young. As for Sunday, The Flaming Lips will return to Riot Fest on Sunday, bringing the fest-favorites back to Douglass Park on September 19 to replace Pixies. Sunday attendees will also get into the Thursday Preview Party for free, with a host of freshly-announced perks included. Tickets are on sale now at the link below.

Disciples of Verity Share Music Video for “I AM I” ft. Joe Gareri


 

Rock and Metal supergroup Disciples of Verity (DOV) have shared a new official music video for their song “I AM I.” Their debut album Pragmatic Sanction is out now (read our review here)! The band counts Corey Glover (vocalist Of Living Colour and Bowie Experience), George Pond (bass, ex Negative Sky), Corey Pierce (drums, God Forbid), Mark Monjoy (rhythm guitar, Sekond Skyn), and their debut album is out now! The album boasts guest appearances from Phil Demmel (Vio-lence) Morgan Rose (Sevendust), Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy), Tara McLeod (Kittie), Mike Antine (Majul), JJ Sammataro (Negative Sky), and solo artist Joe Gareri. Music fans love a good supergroup. However, a lot of times the results may vary and the resultant music that felt like it would rule on paper doesn’t translate in the end. Well, that sure isn’t the case with Disciples of Verity. Not only does the band boast a who’s who of dynamic talents from across Rock and Metal (Living Colour, God Forbid, Negative Sky, Sekond Skyn), their debut release Pragmatic Sanction (The Label Group/InGrooves) has a ton of memorable songs; heavy enough for the real headbangers, but catchy enough for the masses. Living Colour Shares New Video for “This Is The Life”


 

Living Colour has shared a new video for its classic song ‘This Is The Life’. The clip includes footage of the peaceful protests that have swelled across the U.S. and around the world over the death of Minnesota man George Floyd at the hands of police. The original version of the track appeared on Living Colour’s 1990 album ‘Time’s Up’ In a statement accompanying the new video’s release, the band commented: “‘Time’s Up’ was released 30 years ago and sadly we’re still fighting the same fight. CONCERT REVIEW: Disciples of Verity – Patterns of Decay – Concrete Dream – Behind the Bullet Live at The Kingsland


With the release of two recent singles ‘Worthy’ and ‘Lying to Myself’ from their forthcoming album, Pragmatic Sanction (InGrooves), Disciples of Verity made their debut at The Kingsland in Brooklyn New York. No cover songs needed here, just what I believe is a set from their entire record. It also marks the return of God Forbid skins-man, Corey Pierce (finally). Every time he hit a cymbal, it felt like the kit was holding on for dear life.
