Former Kvelertak frontman Erlend Hjelvik Launches New Band Hjelvik, Signs with Nuclear Blast

Ex-Kvelertak frontman, Erlend Hjelvik, has started a solo metal band Hjelvik and has signed with Nuclear Blast Records! Erlend Hjelvik describes his music as “blackened Viking heavy metal” with lyrics based on Norse mythology and history. A debut album, Welcome to Hel, is in the works and will release later in 2020.

Great Scott, Legendary Boston Music Venue, to Shut Down Permanently Due to COVID-19 Closure


Sad news out of Boston as one of the legendary music venues of all time, Great Scott, has announced they will not return when the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic subsides. The club’s manager posted a Facebook message to fans, thanking them for a lifetime of memories. Great Scott, in the Allston neighborhood, was home to all kinds of music, but definitely supported all kinds of rock, metal, punk, and hardcore over the years. Ghost Cult covered countless shows at the venue including Intronaut, Nails, Royal Thunder, Corrections House, Toxic Holocaust, Revocation, Kylesa, The Krum Bums, The Atlas Moth, Kvelertak and many more. Sadly this seems to be one of a wave of clubs, bars, and small businesses crushed by the economic downturn following this pandemic. Continue reading


Kvelertak Shares New Video for “Crack of Doom” Featuring Troy Sanders of Mastodon


Kvelertak has shared their second single and music video from their upcoming new album, Splid, due February 14th via Rise Records. The track ‘Crack of Doom’ is a rager and features Troy Sanders of Mastodon. Premiering on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show last night, the track is one of the first songs ever by the band, performed entirely in English. The clip was Directed by Stian Andersen, Produced by Lars Thomas Skare also first AD, and the cinematography was handled by Kristian Jaran Engelsen. Watch it now!
