CONCERT REVIEW: Tool – Elder Live at Footprint Center

February 9th and 10th the Footprint Center stage, in Phoenix, AZ, lit up with the powerhouse that is Tool with direct support from Boston bred/and mostly now Germany-based band Elder. Elder started by warming up our ears to their heavy riffs and long instrumentals. This was my first time experiencing Elder, and I had never heard of the band until then. After this one experience though, I can easily see how the band fits and compliments Tool on this tour, as they too have some psychedelic and captivating soundscapes that just simply fits. ALBUM REVIEW: MTVoid (Tool) – Matter’s Knot, Pt.1

Tool’s bassist Justin Chancellor and Polish Alt-Metal outfit Sweet Noise’s frontman Peter Mohamed first met at a European music festival. A shared desire to collaborate in some way or another finally came to fruition in 2013 with MTVoid’s first album, Nothing’s Matter. Now ten years on the pair release their follow up, Matter’s Knot, Pt.1 (Lobal Orning).

ALBUM REVIEW: Puscifer – Existential Reckoning : Rewired

Puscifer will always be best known as one of the many creative outlets for Tool / A Perfect Circle vocalist Maynard James Keenan, and as an avenue for the most obscure depths of his musical creativity. But the band has always been a collaborative affair, with Keenan working alongside many different artists over the years, with their albums subsequently always providing an infusion of many different ideas and experiences. Existential Reckoning : Rewired (Puscifer Entertainment / Alchemy Recordings/ BMG) is the remix accompaniment to their 2020 album, which itself was a typically avant-garde electro-rock melting pot of futuristic and otherworldly sounds.

Adam Jones of Tool Shares Previously Unreleased VIP Event – Music Clinic Footage

In 2018, leading up to the release of 2019’s record-breaking Fear Inoculum album, Tool would perform a series of VIP sessions as clinics where the band performed live, did a Q & A, and “teaches” attendees how to perform some of their “hits!” They also used the opportunity to tease snippets of new music as fans were not allowed in with their phones. Guitarist Adam Jones has shared footage on his popular Instagram account of himself, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor performing one of these clinics, filmed side stage by AEW ring announcer, Justin Roberts. Tool has just released their first ever collectable statue, based on the artwork of 10,000 days, and been announced as a headline band for next spring’s Welcome to Rockville 2023. Watch it now!

Tool Releases New Merch Line For “10,000 Days” Anniversary

Tool marked the 15th anniversary of the release of their 10,000 Days (Volcano, Tool Dissectional) album on May 2nd, 2021 with a new line of special themed merch. Among the typical shirts, hoodies, and hats, there are pillows, pint glasses, a sherpa blanket, and the Vicarious single/video DVD for sale at their store. 2021 is a special year for Tool album milestones as Lateralus (read our review here) just turned 20 years old, and Ænima will see a 25th anniversary this fall. The band was supposed to be on the road touring being Fear Inoculum, but has been largely inactive since the lockdown as vocalist Maynard James Kennan contracted COVID-19 twice and released a new album with Puscifer, while Adam Jones put out an instrumental single and video with the help of fellow bandmates Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor.

CONCERT REVIEW: Tool – Killing Joke: Live at The Barclays Center

The massive Tool tour tolled into the New York City area in mid-November, and there were telltale signs this was not your typical happening. Sure, Tool is an “event” live and there really is no other show like it on earth. That is not an exaggeration. Take the best arena Rock or Metal show you’ve ever seen and ratchet it up to eleven! That is what we are talking about here. In addition to the power of the record-breaking release of Fear Inoculum (Tool Disectional, Volcano, RCA) we were going to get to hear new songs live, some for the first time ever. All the stress Tool fans felt about the wait for the album and how would it be received have all melted away. Time for this very big deal of a show. Continue reading
