History of Punk Rock Graphics Art Exhibition Opens, Johnny Rotten To Appear


A new exhibition opened at The Museum of Arts and Design in New York City, focusing on the art and iconography of the original Punk Rock movement. Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die Punk Graphics 1976-1986 exhibition is open and curated by is organized by Cranbrook Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and curated by Andrew Blauvelt, Director, with the assistance of Steffi Duarte. The presentation at the Museum of Arts and Design was managed by Curatorial Assistant Alida Jekabson. Unless otherwise noted, all objects in this exhibition are courtesy of Andrew Krivine. Today at the museum Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols, PIL) will take part in a discussion, interviewed by acclaimed author Gillian McClain, co-author of Please Kill Me, with Legs McNeil. Punk Documentary Series From Iggy Pop and John Varvatos Debuts on Epix


Punk, a new documentary series made its debut on the EPIX channel tonight. Produced by Iggy Pop and designer and music mogul John Varvatos, Punk is a four-part series that explores the birth of Punk Rock. A huge assemblage of stars has come together including Pop, Varvatos, John Lydon (Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Marky Ramone (Ramones), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters/Nirvana), Duff McKagan (Guns n’ Roses), Donita Sparks (L7),director Penelope Spheeris (The Decline of Western Civilization), Joan Jett, Danny Fields, Legs McNeil, Wayne County, Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks/OFF), Debbie Harry and Chris Stein (Blondie), Wayne County, Flea and many more. The Dirty Nil – Master Volume


The Dirty Nil’s debut album Higher Power (Dine Alone) felt like a genuine shot in the arm for both punk and rock alike and there was so much attitude and swagger on show the band garnered much deserved praise. Add to that the fact that the band’s live shows built upon the raucous foundations of the album, and the sky appeared to be the limit for them. Thus we come to that much talked about benchmark for many bands… that being the “difficult” follow up, and, interestingly, their second album Master Volume (Dine Alone) both improves and disappoints in equal measures.Continue reading
