Last Friday (1/29/21) I got to check out the live stream from Housecore bands Scour and Shock Narcotic. Both of these groups are “supergroups” but I’m not going to get into that right now. I will say though that the list of bands that make up the background for each band are some of my favorites so I was kinda excited for this show.
Death grind supergroup SCOUR featuring Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, Superjoint etc.), John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, ex-Cattle Decapitation), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index) will finally release their long-anticipated Black EP, the third in a three-part series, next year via Housecore Records. The band has a history of covers at their shows and they are releasing a special Black Friday teaser their cover of Bathory classic, “Massacre.” Revolver is hosting an exclusive fan-filmed video clip of the track, captured at various shows through the years.Continue reading
Death metal supergroup Scour played a rare show last night in Maryland at Baltimore Soundstage. Frontman Philip Anselmo dedicated a cover of the Pantera classic ‘Slaughtered’ to Vinnie Paul Abbott during the show. They previously covered ‘Strength Beyond Strength’ last fall. Watch a fan-filmed video below.Continue reading
Scour released their first EP to the world back in 2016, and the highly anticipated follow up hit stores today via Housecore Records. The Red EP boasts fifteen minutes of pure, extreme metal that only a group including the likes of Philip Anselmo, John and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), and Chase Fraser (Continuum) could pull off. Boasting members of Pig Destroyer, Misery Index and Agoraphobic Nosebleed, FULGORA is a nihilistic grindcore/death collective devising violent hymns of audio destruction. Melding death, grind and hardcore-laden, vulturine vocal incursions, the band’s sadistic output is the sound of a world gone rotten with apathy, disease and decay.
The band features guitarist/vocalist B. L. LaMew, bassist John Jarvis, drummer Adam Jarvis and live guitarist Sparky Voyles (ex Dying Fetus).
