PODCAST: EPISODE 29 – Jamie of To Write Love on Her Arms on The Mental Health Crisis

For over a decade, Jamie Tworkwoski and his non-profit foundation To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) have been on the front lines for suicide prevention and mental health awareness and support. Jamie was in New York City recently for the Mental Health Comedy Tour at the legendary Comic Strip Live. The show featured Jamie, comedian, Joe Matarese, and host Preston Gitlin. In their 13-year history, TWLOHA has donated over $2.3 million directly into treatment, traveled more than 3.4 million miles to meet people face-to-face at nearly 3,000 events, and has responded to over 210,000 messages from over 100 countries. In our interview, we had a frank discussion about the epidemic of suicides, the current mental health crisis, mental health in the music business, his work with Vans Warped Tour, the effect of social media on our well-being, and the strides TWLOHA has made over the years. WARNING: This podcast features a blunt discussion about suicide, depression, anxiety, and situations where people have taken their own lives. This may be triggering, but our intention is to help by creating a dialogue. If you are ready this and need help, you are not alone and you can seek help at this link. This episode is dedicated to the memory of Melina Dellamargio. Continue reading
