CONCERT REVIEW: Disturbed – Breaking Benjamin – Jinjer Live at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheatre

St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheatre at Lakeview played host to an epic evening of music featuring three bands: Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, and Jinjer. Opened as the Lakeview Amphitheater in 2015, the venue is perched on the shores of Lake Onondaga and boasts 5000 seats under cover in the pavilion and a capacity of another 12,500 on the lawn. Being conveniently located at the intersection of two major area highways, driving there is relatively easy and the $20 for parking seemed reasonable compared to most other similar venues. It should be noted that the geography of being between the lake and the highway dictates that the parking lot be long and narrow. It can be a long walk to and from the stage and coming and going can take some time so plan accordingly. The staff did an excellent job moving everyone quickly and efficiently through the process.

Wacken Open Air Struggles with Flooding from Torrential Rainstorms, As its Organizers Vow to Put On The Festival

Awful weather is plaguing Wacken, Germany – the home of this week’s legendary Wacken Open Air Festival. The festival grounds and surrounding areas have had massive flooding and continued storms putting the event in doubt, and causing many fans to be unable to attend. Still, in spite of the dire weather and at times dangerous conditions according to a published report from the AP, the festival organizer Thomas Jensen has shared a message, hoping to put on the festival somehow. The festival has limited capacity, has done a lot to direct fest-goers to shelter, safety, food (and beer), and seem to be pulling out all the stops in an effort to carry one. We have several friends and colleagues at Wacken and hope for their safe return. WOA 2023 is headlined by Iron Maiden, Dropkick Murphys, Megadeth, Jinjer, Beartooth, and many more artists. Please see a series of messages on the fest’s Facebook group and we’ll bring you more news on this as it develops.

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Download Festival 2023 Part 1, Live at Castle Donnington

After hearing horror stories about the queues I was pleasantly surprised to arrive at the hollow turn of Donington for Download Festival 2023, and was parked up within 10 minutes. Not to dismiss the stories is it close the rather excellent download festival app a tool which I would find invaluable during my visit constantly advising incoming travellers of reach to avoid owing to congestion.Continue reading

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Sick New World Festival Live at Las Vegas Fairgrounds

Some people told me I was crazy when I decided I was going to go to the Sick New World Fest, a debut Metal and Rock Festival in Las Vegas. In the month of May. I hate to sound like a boomer and complain about the heat in Las Vegas, which is an actual desert, but the bottom line is I knew in advance it was going to be hot as hell, and it certainly lived up to that prediction. That being said, I was really excited to come to the festival enjoy a day with my metal community, meet new friends, and see some incredible bands; some I had never seen ever, and some I had not seen in a long time.
