CONCERT REVIEW: Ice Nine Kills – SKYND – Lansdowne – Defying Decay Live at Manchester Academy 1


 

Opening up the night was Bangkok’s Defying Decay, the seven-piece crammed to the very front of the stage at Academy 1 with masses of equipment behind them. Their sound was a heady cocktail of bludgeoning heaviness and melodic cadences, with frontman Jay Poom Euarchukiati poppy cleans and a liberal dose of groove rounding off the potent mix.

I don’t want to speak too early or jinx anything, but this Heavy Metal idea has been in a resurgence as of late. Bear in mind that a lot of the old promotional tools have been inactive for years. MTV lost its ass and stopped using the first letter of its acronym long ago and whatever is left of commercial rock radio is perfectly content to spin the same Stone Temple Pilots singles until the sun or Clear Channel finally burn out. Rock Fest, the largest three-day rock music and camping event in the U.S. has announced next summer’s lineup for its 29th Annual event. Slipknot, Pantera, Godsmack, Ice Cube, Papa Roach, GWAR, and Dorothy appear alongside 75-plus bands over the course of the three-day festival. Rock Fest 2022 was record-breaking with the highest-ever attendance in the event’s history according to Chippewa Valley Music Festivals, and they anticipate breaking it again this year. When We Were Young Music Festival Cancels Day One of Their Festival Due to High Winds

The highly anticipated destination music festival aimed at Punks, elder Emos, and millennials, When We Were Young Festival featuring My Chemical Romance, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne has been forced to cancel day one of their sold out event. The cancellation was announced at 10 AM PST, just an hour before gates were to open at Las Vegas Festival Grounds. due to high winds. Winds were forecasted for up to 30-40 MPH which increases the safety hazard for an outdoor stage. The fest is still expected to take place tomorrow and again next weekend; on October 29th, 2022.
