Hellfest, held every year just outside of Paris, in Clisson, France, continues to up the ante every year with forever growing and impressive lineups! Taking place from June 27 to June 30, 2024, Hellfest will once again be four days long and over 200 bands appearing on six stages. For 2024, the headliners for each night will be Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Metallica, and Foo Fighters. Beastie Boys, Faith No More, Radiohead, Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Bruce Springsteen, Heart, and More are Featured in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3


 

 

Marvel Studios just released their latest film in The Marvel Cinematic Universe, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3. As is the trademark of all of director James Gunn’s movies, music plays a prominent role in the fabric of the film itself. In addition to using Rainbow’s “Since You’ve Been Gone” in the trailer, many songs from 1970s to the 2000s figure prominently in the movie including an unplugged version of Radiohead’s “Creep,” Faith No More’s first hit from the 1980s “We Care A Lot,” Beastie Boys’s “No Sleep Til Brooklyn” and many more. The film was written and directed by Gunn, and features an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone. Watch Nirvana and Heart’s Ann And Nancy Wilson Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards From The Recording Academy


The Recording Academy (a.k.a The Grammy Awards) honored the surviving members of Nirvana and Heart’s Ann and Nancy Wilson with the Recording Academy’s 2023 lifetime achievement award at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles on February 4th. Other honorees included Bobby McFerrin, Ma Rainey, Nile Rodgers, and Slick Rick. The ceremony – the Special Merit Awards ceremony, was presented the day before the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The lifetime achievement award is presented by vote of the Recording Academy’s national trustees to performers “who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording.” Watch the ceremony now!

CONCERT REVIEW: Ann Wilson Live at Sony Hall


 

In a time where people tend to throw around the word “legend”, I had the great fortune to experience an incredibly intimate evening with a true legend at Sony Hall last week. Ann Wilson, the undeniable and unmistakable voice of Heart, delivered the goods on the New York City stop of her tour. She’s supporting her new release Fierce Bliss. The album, like so many others to come out this year, was a product of the abundance of time off courtesy of Covid. Ann used her time very wisely and enlisted the help of a wide variety of heavy hitters including Vince Gill, Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Nancy Wilson of Heart Shares New Video for Her Cover Of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter”


Heart’s Nancy Wilson has shared a music video for her cover version of Pearl Jam’s “Daughter”. Directed by Jeremy Danger Pictures, Wilson originally recorded the track for Netflix’s “I Am All Girls”, a South African film that shines a light on human trafficking. The track comes from Willson’s new solo album or originals and covers, “You And Me”, which released on May 7 via Carry On Music.

Alice In Chains is being honored by Seattle’s MoPop Museum of Pop Culture on December 1st, and the band will be celebrated by a cadre of their peers, as well as hold their first performance of 2020. Captain Marvel Film Features Nirvana, Garbage, Hole, Elastica, Heart, R.E.M., and More!


Captain Marvel finally came out last weekend to smash success, shattering first week expectations. Set in the 1990s the film features an amazing soundtrack to match the film full of pop culture references like Blockbuster Videos, Gameboys, Troll Dolls and that dope vintage Nine Inch Nails shirt (the band is now selling a collabo item). In addition to the Elastica hit song ‘Connection’ heard in the trailer, the film features memorable 1990s tracks by megastars Nirvana, Garbage, Hole, Beck, R.E.M., Salt N Pepper featuring En Vogue, TLC, and No Doubt. The film also features other artists like Heart, Lita Ford, The Hunting Party, The Marvelettes in addition to The Captain Marvel Official Soundtrack Album score by Pinar Toprak. No word yet if the popular songs will be released as a soundtrack yet. The next film in the MCU series from Disney/Marvel Studios is Avengers: Endgame next month.
