Marilyn Manson to Appear in Upcoming HBO Series “The New Pope”


According to a published report from Variety, Marilyn Manson will appear as a guest on the new series on HBO, The New Pope, the sequel to 2017s The Young Pope. Also appearing is Academy Award-winning actress Sharon Stone (Casino). Manson has appeared in movies and TV shows before, including the FX series Sons Of Anarchy where he drew rave reviews, the Showtime series Californication — where he played himself — and the Sundance Channel program Wrong Cops.Continue reading


Watch Game Of Thrones Attack On Kings Landing Scene Set To Metallica’s “For Whom The Bell Tolls”


SPOILER ALERT! Don’t read this if you care about HBO’s Game of Thrones and haven’t seen Season 8 episode 5. Now, someone cool took the footage of the Battle of Kings Landing, swords and spears, blood and guts, and genocide via Dragon’s fire set to Metallica’s classic anti-war song ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ from 1984s Ride The Lightning (Blackened Records). It is literally the bloodiest and possibly most horrible scene in the entire series. We already wrote previously about how Thrones is the most metal show of all time! Game of Thrones, The Most Metal Show Ever, Returns Tonight

Surely there will be another sci-fi fantasy show quite as great as Game of Thrones. The phenomenal series begins its final six episodes ever tonight on HBO. Not only was the show an epic experience e to watch no matter who ends up on the Iron Throne (or no throne at all), it is clearly the most metal show ever. In addition to the story and the amazing soundtrack by Ramin Djawadi, the show has battle, dragons, magic, zombies (White Walkers), Viking-like Northmen, witchcraft, and wildfire, and direwolves. But also the show has inspired metal covers and tribute songs, bands inspired by the show, a live concert experience based on the music for the show starring metal artists, music in the show and trailers from heavy bands, the actor that played the beloved Hodor character can shred to Megadeth, and even appearances by our favorite dudes in Mastodon in the army of the frozen undead (several times). Heilung’s Music Used In New Game Of Thrones Trailer, New Album Due In June


Avant-garde and dark Danish metallers Heilung have found their world crossing paths with Game of Thrones! The bands’ music made it into the HBO Latin America trailer for Game of Thrones season 8, which you can see below. Warning, there are spoilers for the entire series and the books by George R.R. Martin in this trailer! The band just announced plans for their second album, Futha, due out 28th of June 2019 via Season of Mist. Alice In Chains Classic Played In The Season Finale Of “Ballers” On HBO


Ballers, HBO’s hit show about the world of sports agents and consultants featured Alice In Chains in their season three finale last night. The popular HBO show starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Rob Corddry often features music from rap (the theme song is by Kendrick Lamar), pop and indie rock in the show, so when it features hard rock or metal, you really notice it. Nine Inch Nails To Compose The Soundtrack To HBO’s Watchmen Series


Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been garnering respect and awards for the stellar soundtrack work the last few years on projects such as The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Patriots Day, The Vietnam War, and The Fourth Estate. Now they have been hired to compose original music for HBO’s adaptation of DC Comics’ Watchmen graphic novel series. HBO’s often has legendary composers and soundtrack artists for their programs such as Ramin Djwadi, Jeff Beal, and Wendy and Lisa. Created by Alan Moore (V for Vendetta) Watchmen is one of the most acclaimed graphic novels of all time and the movie adaption in 2009 was fairly well received. The new series from Warner Bros. Television is among HBO’s most-anticipated series for next year. Showrunner/exec producer Damon Lindelof, fresh off of his acclaimed HBO drama The Leftovers. HBO’s Sharp Objects Finale Features Led Zeppelin’s “In The Evening”


HBO’s new Southern Gothic psychological thriller mini-series event Sharp Objects concluded last night with a shocking twist ending. The acclaimed show starring Golden Globe winner and five-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams featured an incredible, eclectic soundtrack featuring intense instrumentals, indie music artists, and rock legends like Led Zeppelin, Steve Miller, Sylvian Esso, and The Acid. In the series finale, Zeppelin’s late-era hit ‘In The Evening’ is heard over the closing credits, giving weight to the final moments of the series. The track which is the lead song from 1979’s In Through The Out Door (Atlantic) was actually teased several times earlier in the series. Vans Warped Tour, The Offspring, And Social Distortion Get Shoutouts In The Ballers Season Premiere


Ballers is the HBO series focusing on financial advisors to superstar athletes. The cast is led by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Rob Corddry. On the season four premiere, the main characters are courting a partnership with an extreme sports company led by comedian Russell Brand, and The Vans Warped Tour got a shout out. In addition, the now-defunct traveling tour, The Offspring, and Social Distortion were also name-checked. Warped Tour finished its last run as traveling tour last weekend after 23 years. Speculation on the future of Warped Tour has focused on the tour coming back someday as a destination festival. Continue reading


HBO’s New “Sharp Objects” Mini-Series Features Led Zeppelin, Steve Miller


HBO’s new Southern Gothic psychological thriller and mini-series event Sharp Objects features an incredible, eclectic soundtrack featuring intense instrumentals, indie music artists, and rock legends like Led Zeppelin and Steve Miller. From Sylvian Esso and The Acid’s lucid ethereal obtuse sounds, to lead character Camille Preaker (played by Golden Globe winner Amy Adams) and her broken iPod Classic Zeppelin playlist on repeat of Led Zepplin II and Led Zeppelin III classics such as ‘I Can’t Quit You Baby’, ‘Thank You’, and ‘What Is And Should Never Be’ among others, the music has almost acted as an extra character in the show. Suspensful, incredibly filmed, well-written, and a great performance from Adams in the lead role, the show has been amazing so far in the two episodes that have aired. Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box” Featured In Westworld Episode


After being teased before the season, the full piano and orchestra-based version of Nirvana’s classic track ‘Heart Shaped Box’ appeared last night in the Season 2, eighth episode Kiksuya of HBO’s Westworld. The cover was created by acclaimed series composer Ramin Djawadi, also known for his work on Game Of Thrones. The trailer uses imagery that also called to mind the lyrics and even the music video for the song, which came from the In Utero (DGC Records) album, which has its 25th anniversary this year. Djawadi’s Westworld soundtracks have featured re-imaginings of classic songs from artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Wu-Tang Clan, Soundgarden and more.
