The Legendary Club “The Chance” Closes After Hatebreed Headlines the Final Concert at Venue

Sad news for longtime Rock and Metal fans in New York, as The Chance in Poughkeepsie has hosted its final concert last weekend, October, 29th, 2023. Hatebreed was the final band to perform at the storied venue, as we know it. The club hosted rock and metal bands for over 60 years. Hatebreed were supported at this gig by Internal Bleeding and Sickbay. After first opening in 1912 as a vaudeville theater, the venue had taken many names and forms and had hosted tons of classic rock bands, including one of the infamous first ever US performances from The Police, David Bowie, The Kinks, and more. Since 1980 as The Chance, the venue has hosted tons of Hardcore and Metal festivals and concerts. The venue’s longtime and much-missed owner Frank Pallett passed away suddenly at age 51 in August of 2021, throwing the club’s future in doubt. Frank’s family managed the club after a brief closure, but now the building’s new owners want to redevelop the footprint.Continue reading

Shadows Fall is Working on New Music, but Has No Immediate Plans for a New Release

In a new interview with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed’s podcast The Jasta Show, Brian Fair of Shadows Fall shared a lot of past, present, and future details about the band. Shadows Fall is performing this weekend at Jasta’s rejuvenated Milwaukee Metalfest this weekend. Among the many anecdotes and stories shared by Brian, including previous reunion shows at the Worcester Palladium, Blue Ridge Rock Fest and Furnace Fest, he volunteered that the band is working on “the skeletons” of parts for new songs and promised some new “Shadows Fall music down the road.” Additionally, the band is not currently signed to a label, so Fair said the band will listen to all offers, but also doesn’t yet have a timetable currently for a release.
