One of our favorite interviewees in person or the phone is Matt Harvey of Exhumed. Matt is as amazing to chat with as he is a guitarist and bandleader. Exhumed’s new album is the aptly titled Horror (Relapse Records) which came out just ahead of Halloween 2019, and he was in a spooky mood when we chatted. We talked about the new album, his proclivity for writing great OSDM songs, the consistency of the current lineup of the band, his favorite horror movies ever, and his thoughts on attending one of Metallica’s “S and M 2 Concerts” in San Francisco, earlier this fall, and more. Soil Shares Spooky Halloween-Themed Theatrical Video for ‘One Love’

 

Soil has released a theatrical video version of the song ‘One Love’, just in time for Halloween 2019, The video has similar vibes to horror films like The Witch or I Spit On Your GraveThe video contains an eerie backstory and was filmed exclusively with actors and does not feature the band. Conceptually the band wanted to do something different and interesting with the song since ‘One Love’ originally appeared on the 2013 studio album Whole. Indie filmmakers David Gregory (Director) and James Morgan (Director of photography) were tapped for the job. Filming was shot in the UK during the band’s recent tour supporting Static-X. Classic Heavy metal Song “Mother” by Danzig Covered for American Satan Movie

American Satan, the 2017 movie Directed by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen will see a television sequel Paradise City soon. The film starred and featured music from many Sumerian cornerstone artists with a score co-written by Jonathan Davis of Korn. The series stars Black Veil Brides leaders Andy Black and Ben Bruce, along with Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellen Quinn and many others. Rob Zombie’s “Halloween Horror Nights” Returns to Universal Studios This Fall

Rob Zombie makes a habit of celebrating his favorite holidays by scaring his fans to death! His “Halloween Horror Nights” event will take over Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida this fall. One of “scare zones” will be based on Rob Zombie’s solo debut album Hellbilly Deluxe. Scare zones are areas of the park, between the haunted houses and rides, where guests must travel through hordes of terrifying monsters and demented fiends. The Scabby Ghouls – Scabby Ghouls

There is a certain subset of people that have an inner glee at the strange and macabre. The Scabby Ghouls are most definitely these people. Scabby Ghouls have released an ode to zombies, horror, and fun. Scabby Ghouls (Out-O-Tune Records) is full of merry Halloween Punk. Short punchy songs make up the album. Thematically, Scabby Ghouls may only appeal to a niche audience, which is a shame as the song construction and musicianship are solid. Continue reading

Twisted Tower Dire – Wars In The Unknown

Formed nearly a quarter of a century ago, Twisted Tower Dire is one of those bands that never made it big, but has always been likable and consistent in their music. This Virginia-based act has been rather quiet since their last release, Mark It Dark (Cruz del Sur Music) in 2011, but now they’re back with a much-anticipated new record. Their sixth full-length album, Wars In The Unknown (No Remorse Records), boasts about how this quartet can still accomplish solid and entertaining Heavy Metal. Continue reading
