As the mighty mutant overlords, GWAR approaches the 30th-anniversary release of their classic Scumdogs of the Universe Deluxe Edition release via Metal Blade on October 30th, the band has announced a special event. This past weekend saw GWAR play their first-ever drive-in shows at the Diamond in Richmond, VA. More events may develop in the future. “Scumdogs XXX Live” live streaming concert event, presented by Liquid Death and Metal Injection. The livestream it set for the night of the release, Friday, October 30th with the pre-show starting at 6:00 PM Eastern. The live stream performance kicks off at 8:00 PM Eastern. Full Terror Assault Festival, slated for September, is in trouble. The festival just lost it’s two headliners and one of its other frontline bands. The fifth annual festival is to take place this year, the first of its kind, “open air” European style metal festival. GWAR, Exodus, and General Surgery has all announced they will not perform at the festival since they are all canceling all of their 2020 shows. They were to have announced more bands for the fest this week and they still might as the location for the fest reopened recently. The festival has launched a private survey for fans to gauge if the fest should carry on or not. Also slated to appear are M.O.D., War Curse, ground, Shock Narcotic, Extinction A.D., Axeslasher, Duskwalker, Escuelagrind, Pillory, and many more at Hogrock Campground, at Cave In Rock, Illinois September 9 -11th. A fan-launched campaign to replace the controversial Robert E. Lee monument in Richmond, Virginia with a statue of late GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus has garnered more than 48,000 signatures, with a goal of 50,000. The Confederate general died in 1870, 20 years before his statue was erected on Richmond’s Monument Avenue. Launched on June 12, the Change.org petition seeks to have the “racist” landmark replaced with a tribute to the GWAR co-founder and longtime leader, whose real name was Dave Brockie.
