For those not in the know, Grey Daze is not a new band. It was Chester Bennington’s band before Linkin Park.The Phoenix (Loma Vista Recordings) is a re-imaging of songs of unreleased material Chester and Grey Daze intended to released, including his bandmates and friends such as Sean Dowdell, Mace Beyers, and Cristian Davis with help from Dave Navarro, Richard Patrick, and Bennington’s children. Bennington himself wanted to release the music before he died, bringing it to a wider audience. The band did just that using Bennington’s original vocals.

ALBUM REVIEW: Grey Daze – Amends


Next month will be three years since Chester Bennington ended his life. On what would have been Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday, not only a fellow musician, but also his best friend and Godfather to his son, he took his life. It has been three years and the sadness persists. Bennington’s struggle with depression and substances was a public affair and through his lyrics, it felt like we knew what he was going through. An exceptional vocalist he fronted a band that dove into multiple genres. Either you liked Linkin Park or you hated them. Grey Daze, Chester Bennington’s pre-Linkin Park band from Phoenix, Arizona has launched an eight-part making-of video series for their upcoming album Amends. The album is due via Loma Vista Recordings on April 10th, 2020 and can be pre-ordered below. The web-based series explores the Phoenix-based band’s beginnings, their motivation for reuniting, how the album was made and the musicians who pitched in to ensure Chester’s dream of a Grey Daze reunion and album release were fulfilled.Continue reading


Hear Chester Bennington of Linkin Park on the New Single with His Original Band Grey Daze


As previously reported, Chester Bennington’s pre-Linkin Park band Grey Daze will release their tribute album, with Chester’s vocals on it in 2020. Among the guest musicians set to appear on the recordings are Chester’s 23-year-old son Jaime Bennington, KORN’s Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer, P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel, BUSH’s Chris Traynor, Ryan Shuck, Chester’s bandmate in DEAD BY SUNRISE. The resulting album will be released via Loma Vista Recordings. The first single from the upcoming tribute album, a track called “What’s In The Eye”, has just been released, accompanied by a Zev Deans-directed video featuring old footage of Chester. Late Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington’s first band, Phoenix-based Grey Daze have re-recorded their old material with the help of Chester’s friends and family. Among the guest musicians set to appear on the recordings are Chester’s 23-year-old son Jaime Bennington, Korn’s Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer, P.O.D.’s Marcos Curiel, Bush guitarist’s Chris Traynor, as well as Ryan Shuck, Chester’s bandmate in Dead By Sunrise. The resulting album will be released via 320 Changes Direction, the mental health awareness organization launched by Chester’s widow Talinda Bennington.Continue reading
