Roadburn 2019 is coming next April and continues to build momentum as one of the best editions in memory. With Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates) curating, the lineup continues to evolve with the specialness Roadburn is known for. Now added to the bill are SUMAC, Young Widows playing Old Wounds, Crippled Black Phoenix (official), Cave, Emma Ruth Rundle, Lingua Ignota, Soft Kill Playing Savior & Heresy, Jaye Jayle, Fear Falls Burning Dirk Serries, Treha Sektori, Throane, O V T R E N O I R, Sherpa Playing Tigris And Euphrates, and a label collaboration with EXILE ON MAINSTREAM will be celebrating their 20th anniversary with Ostinato, Noisepicker, Conny Ochs, Treedeon, Bellrope and Confusion Master at the Hall of Fame venue.Continue reading


Roadburn Announces Tom G. Warrior’s Celtic Frost/Triptykon Requiem For 2019


In a stunning announcement former Roadburn artist and curator Thomas Gabriel Fischer, a.k.a. Tom G. Warrior will mark his return to Roadburn in 2019 with a full performance of Celtic Frost/Triptykon Requiem on Friday, April 12. The three-part Requiem comes complete with orchestral accompaniment via Dutch Metropole Orkest! More details below. The first part of the three-part Requiem appeared on Celtic Frost’s Into The Pandemonium and was titled Rex Irae. The third part, titled Winter was brought to life on the Celtic Frost album Monotheist in 2006, and until now, the missing second part has remained incomplete. Continue reading

Roadburn Festival 2019 has expanded with more bands and named their Artist In Residence. Cave In, Old Man Gloom, Thou (artist in residence), Daughters, Henrik Palm (as part of Tomas Linberg’s special curation of the fest), Drab Majesty, Ulcerate, Imperial Triumphant (full Vile Majesty live performance), Gold, Wolvenst with special guests, Messa, and Mord’a’stigmata. At a time in the world when women are assailed at every turn, their rights threatened by laws, and are denigrated worse than ever by those in the spotlight, it is refreshing to see and hear the plethora of incredible women artists right now demanding to be heard. Either has been an amazing influx of talent to the music scene of late, or underground artists finally coming to the forefront of public consciousness. Dool – Here Now, There Then


New Dutch band Dool are here with their début Here Now, There Then (Prophecy Productions), and while they may not be a super-group per se, this group definitely comprises a bunch of experienced musicians. With the rhythm section formed by drummer Micha Haring and bassist Job van de Zande, formerly of Occult Metal band The Devil’s Blood, and guitars provided by Nick Polack (Gold) and Reinier Vermeulen (The New Media), musically this band is set up for great sound in a variety of genres.Continue reading
