In the latest episode of Gibson TV sits down with one of the most influential metal guitarists of all time, Kirk Hammett. Since 1983, Kirk Hammett has been the lead guitarist and member of Metallica. Prior to joining the band, he formed the group Exodus in high school with Gary Holt and helped invent thrash metal as one of the most influential guitarists of this age. Metallica’s Kirk Hammett Gets “Out Wah-ed” in a Battle Live in Concert

Metallica lead guitarist and thrash legend Kirk Hammett has been dethroned as the king of Wah-Wah pedal! He was challenged by Mrs. Smith, the guitar virtuoso alter-ego of actor-musician David Hanbury, and defeated last night (Sunday, March 8) at the Senate in Columbia, South Carolina at the “Cry Baby Battle Royale”. The event also included a performance by Kirk’s The Wedding Band, a covers project, also featuring his Metallica bandmate Robert Trujillo and Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane, Doc Coyle of Bad Wolves, among others. The seven-minute battle was introduced by Gibson’s Mark Agnesi, who arranged the event during an interview with Mrs. Smith, and saw Hammett and Mrs. Smith trading licks over a reimagining of Isaac Hayes’s Oscar-winning “Theme From Shaft”, the original recording of which became infamous for the mind-blowing wah-wah guitar of the late Charles “Skip” Pitts. Gibson, in business for the past 126 years, has announced today, January XX, 2020 that Cantrell–main songwriter, lead guitarist, and vocalist for the pioneering rock band Alice in Chains–will join as the brand ambassador. Jerry Cantrell will be doing a signing in the Gibson experience space, 3rd Floor, Ballroom A at Winter NAMM on Saturday, January 18 at 4:00 pm.
