In more Coronavirus cancellation news, Fleshgod Apocalypse is the latest band feeling the sting of the global health crisis. Due to travel restrictions implemented in response to the spread of COVID-19, “Coronavirus” the bands’ highly anticipated tour with a classical string quartet for the first time ever, will now take place at a later date to be announced as plans are confirmed. Fleshgod Apocalypse Books North American Tour with The Agonist
Symphonic Death Metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse has booked a full US tour for 2020, with direct support from The Agonist. Unique to this tour, Fleshgod will be joined by a classical string quartet to bring their album sound into the live setting even more than ever! The band released their new album Venelo this year via Nuclear Blast Records. Check out the dates below. The tour begins in Dallas, TX on March 16th and culminates in Los Angeles on April 6th. Ticket sales are listed below. You can see a video interview we did with the band earlier this year when Francesco alludes to touring with the string quartet.

Honest question: Who started the whole let’s get an orchestra or symphony type shit behind extreme metal? I know Dimmu Borgir has made some serious bank behind it with the fabulous Death Cult Armageddon and Fleshgod Apocalypse has obscured their lack of riffs with said gimmick, but can we let that trend die? I think I’ve had my fill. But what the hell do I know as Necronomicon has an album worth in Unus (Season of Mist) of synths and faux orchestrations designed to elevate death metal from simply crushing to the upper echelons of the avant-garde.Continue reading

I have always had a lot of time and respect for Alexander Krull. Not only does he share a name with a vastly underrated and not at all terrible fantasy masterpiece (shut it, you…), but throughout his time as the main man of Atrocity he has constantly railed against just doing the straight up and normal, be that by releasing an eighties covers album about fifteen years before it was cool to do so, collaborating with darkwave könige, Das Ich, dark acoustic EP’s with Celtic folk singers, or by mixing massive Prong-ridden grooves with Death and Gothic metal on meisterstück, Blut (Massacre).Continue reading
