Gothic Rock superstars Evanescence have shared a new single, the piano-led ‘Wasted on You’ today, from their forthcoming new album The Bitter Truth (RCA). The new LP is their first in nine years, will be released a track at a time, incrementally throughout 2020. The video for the track is coming later today at the link below (link will go live at 12pm EST / 9am PST/5pm UK) today, Friday 24th April, it will premiere live via YouTube during which singer Amy Lee will participate in a fan Q&A. The band has also rescheduled their co-headline tour joined by Within Temptation, dates below.
The video for “Wasted on You” was shot by each band member – lead singer-songwriter and pianist Amy Lee, bassist Tim McCord, drummer Will Hunt, lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn, and guitarist Jen Majura – on their iPhones while currently in isolation. The intimately shot video (directed by P.R. Brown in collaboration with the band) breaks through the emotional stillness and numbness of the current time to reflect the internal highs and lows that each of us are experiencing on a daily basis.
As Amy Lee explains, “We were recording this music right up until we couldn’t go into the studio anymore, and finished it remotely through file sharing and phone calls. We are still writing and have a lot more work to do on this album, but this time we wanted to release the songs individually, as we create, to live more in the moment with our fans and our music.
‘Wasted On You’ wasn’t the song we were planning to release first, but when the whole world went into indefinite lockdown and everything changed, so did the feeling and meaning of what we wanted to say right now. I didn’t write these lyrics about what we’re all now going through, but somehow that’s exactly what they are.
As far as business is concerned, this is considered a terrible time to release. But we believe that people need music now more than ever. We do, and we’re not going to wait to share it because who knows what tomorrow brings. Who knows if it even comes?
Director P.R. Brown adds “After we started looking at the footage it was clear that the band members were each going through similar things. I started building an edit seeing those scenarios play out over and over again and linked them together to tell their stories.”

You gotta face the facts, you will never be as cool as Ice-T. Never. He came from the streets of Los Angeles to become an iconic figure of Hip-Hop, movies and television, and Metal music. For some people, it seems like there is no mountain they can’t climb, and Ice is one of those guys. Sure, he could chill and sit back on the Law and Order: SVU Special Victims Unit money, and all those royalties. In actuality, he has been working harder than ever on music the last decade-plus, specifically for his groundbreaking band Body Count. All the evidence you need is on their new album, Carnivore. Evanescence has shared their brand new music video for their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s all-time classic song ‘The Chain’. Directed by frequent collaborator, P.R. Brown (My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, Green Day), the piece blends powerful, epic performance visuals with footage from the launch trailer for Xbox Game Studios’ Gears 5 from the massively popular Gears of War franchise. To emulate the aesthetic of Gears 5, a miniature set was constructed for the music video that parallels the dystopian environment of the game. Watch the clip here!

New details are emerging in a story Ghost Cult broke earlier today about last nights’ issues at Knotfest Mexico/Knotfest Meets Force Fest which saw Slipknot and Evanescence cancel due to safety concerns. Fans and bands/crew people are now reporting there were issues with the festival from the start, widespread panic and crowd violence once the bands were canceled. According to official and fan reports, the safety barricade was broken during Behemoth’s set and it was deemed that it was unsafe for either band to perform. According to numerous fan reports on Twitter and Facebook, no announcement was made during the show to quell fans unrest. Then new information has fans storming the stage and stealing /destroying Evanescense’s gear when it appeared they would not perform. Fires were set on the grounds and Slipknot decided not to perform at that point. Slipknot just made an official statement, beyond the original Knotfest Mexico notice which has now been removed. Evanescence made an apology to the fans and has promised to return their video message to fans. Slipknot originally vowed to perform today during Force Fest, but now have abandoned those plans in the new notice. We’ll update this story as more information is uncovered. Continue reading

Fans turned to social media to express their disappointment, but ultimately the festival couldn’t continue with the major safety concern no band would play through.
