ALBUM REVIEW: Mork – Dypet


 

At this point, I’m really not sure if Norwegians are resilient, tough, or just plain masochistic. Three months into a year that has already seen record-low temperatures set across the globe and they seem quite happy to let it stay that way. Forget thoughts of spring or summer, Thomas Eriksen, the mastermind behind black metal act Mork, seemingly wants the world to remain in perpetual winter, grimmer and more frostbitten than your average Immortal video.

Former Kvelertak frontman Erlend Hjelvik Launches New Band Hjelvik, Signs with Nuclear Blast

Ex-Kvelertak frontman, Erlend Hjelvik, has started a solo metal band Hjelvik and has signed with Nuclear Blast Records! Erlend Hjelvik describes his music as “blackened Viking heavy metal” with lyrics based on Norse mythology and history. A debut album, Welcome to Hel, is in the works and will release later in 2020.

Singer Erlend Hjelvik Quits Kvelertak, No Replacement Announced Yet

In a statement on the bands’ Facebook account, singer Erlend Hjelvik has announced his departure from Norwegian band Kvelertak. The band recently opened for Metallica on their European tour and the bands have several gigs lined up for late summer. As of yet, the band has made no announcement about a replacement or future plans. See Hjelvik’s statement below. The band is still on tour supporting 2016’s Nattesferd and had been working toward a new album for late 2018 or early 2019 release. Continue reading
