High On Fire Set To Release “Electric Messiah” Album This Fall


Stoner metal kings High On Fire have announced they are releasing their new album dubbed Electric Messiah via the eOne Label this October. Some details such as the track listing are available, with the first new music hopefully coming soon. Frontman Matt Pike recently gave an interview to the DC Heavy Metal Podcast in which he shared some of the details, including a headline tour soon with Municipal Waste. The follow-up to 2015’s Luminiferous, Electric Messiah was recorded at producer Kurt Ballou’s GodCity Studios where the last two HoF LPs were created. In the nearly forty years of thrash metal history, there have been a lot of changes to the sonic map. Aggression, Ferocity. Nihilism. Angst. Triumph. Agony. These are some of the ingredients that fueled our collective fires and stoked this furnace ever since. Fifteen years ago, there was a mini-movement of “neo-thrash” bands in love with the classic style and maybe marrying in a more late 80s crossover flavor as well. Newer bands were born, and while some died on the vine, other had come to rise. One such band is Black Fast, From the toughness of their St. Louis roots to their never compromising style, they have been trying to carve a truly original piece of the landscape for themselves. Impending Doom – The Sin and Doom Vol II


When it comes to Deathcore, artists only have so many areas to explore with such confined boundaries. Impending Doom has continued to stay within those confines with their blend of “Christian” deathcore. Their latest album, The Sin and Doom Vol II (eOne), maintains this pattern across ten new tracks. Overall, the record is a fun deathcore album instrumentally and vocally which I returned to quite a few times. However, I found lyrically that this band continues to be on the cringe-y side in some tracks more than others.Continue reading
