Icelandic post-metal band Sólstafir are about to kick off their previously announced trek with Katatonia, which will head out tomorrow January 20 for a co-headline tour of the UK and Europe. Icelandic post-Metal legends Sólstafir have won the award for ‘Best Rock Album of 2020’ at the Icelandic Music Awards with their 2020 album Endless Twilight of Codependent Love (review here), out now via Season of Mist. The Icelandic Music Awards (Íslensku Tónlistarverðlaunin) can be seen as the Icelandic version of the Grammys. Find more information below. For the most part, Solstafir’s seventh full-length album follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, 2017’s Berdreyminn (Season of Mist). The songwriting still largely favors the band’s subdued side with influences ranging from Post Punk, Prog Rock, and Ambient greatly informing the Post Metal whole. Tracks like ‘Rokkur’ and ‘Her Fall From Grace’ are heavy on atmosphere with extensive space to breathe and ‘Or’ throws a curveball with its almost Jazz-tinged rhythms.
