Dynamo Metalfest, one of The Netherlands’ best metal festivals, is 100% on for this summer, 2021. Although they lost a few international bands, the fest is rocking forward with headliners Amon Amarth, Heaven Shall Burn, along with Testament, Jinjer, Candlemass, Jinjer, Orange Goblin, Decapitated, Dress The Dead, LIK, and more! Long-stunning Polish Death Metal group Decapitated has resigned to Nuclear Blast and the band is working on new music, which we may hear soon. The band formed in 1996, the bands’ previous deal covered the last 10 years.
Polish extreme Metal band Banisher has shared a new music video for their track “Lockdown”, from their Degrees Of Isolation album, released earlier this year via the Selfmadegod label. The low-key supergroup is made of members and ex-members of Decapitated, Belphegor, Vital Remains, Hate, Redemptor, and Shodan, and the music is starkly brutal, and uncompromising. In a silver lining, Adrian “Covan” Kowanek, the former frontman of Decapitated has received a new a more modern wheelchair as a result of the generosity of Decapitated and Covan’s fans. The fundraising effort via Crowdfunding earned more than $14,000. Details and photographs can be found below via a facebook post from Covan’s sister. In a message to Machine Head fans welcoming Vogg Kieltyka to the band, Vogg confirmed that he plans to do double duty in both bands, and Decapitated will work on a new album, in addition to new shows booked for 2020. Vogg joined the band as the new lead guitarist via a social media announcement this past weekend (September 28th). As of now, Machine Head has an extensive world tour booked with only a Hollywood show planned for North America this December. As of now, there is a gap in the MH Touring schedule following that show, until April 2020. A new Machine Head USA tour and standalone single are said to be announced any time now as well. Decapitated’s last album was the acclaimed AntiCult record, released in 2017.
For twenty years the band Origin has set the standard for what excellent, American Death Metal should sound like. They have been blaring an uncommonly heavy, technical sound since the late nineties. Founding member and guitar player, Paul Ryan has been working on this signature style long before Origin was actually formed. Spread across the three adjoining Academy venues in deepest, darkest Birmingham, the third annual HRH Metal indoor fest is well into its second day when I finally arrive (a long story involving illness and unforeseen hospitals), and gathering pace on the main stage with Nottingham stoner trio Witch Tripper. The band’s beer-fuelled, Black Sabbath inspired riffery capturing the attention of a respectably sized early evening audience.
Brutal Assault 2019 has added another bunch of bands for the next edition of the festival! New bands added include Parkway Drive, Azusa, Nordjevel, Combichrist, Caspian, Violent Magic Orchestra, Caspian, Déluge, Frog Leap, and Hexis. the bill with more to come. One-hundred and thirty bands will play in the ancient and legendary Josefov Fortress castle on four stages all weekend from 7 -10 August 2019.
