CONCERT REVIEW: Brit Floyd – Live at The State Theatre

When I last saw Brit Floyd in August, I said that I would gladly see them again. I did just that on Tuesday night at The State Theatre in New Brunswick NJ.

Over the last two years, the State Theatre took advantage of the downtime forced by the pandemic to completely refurbish the facilities. New carpet, new seats, new bar, new bathrooms…everything has been updated and it looks great. I would swear that the seats are even a bit wider than they were before. Parking is readily available in a public garage just a five minute walk from the venue, and there are tons of restaurants of every type in the immediate area. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Blood Incantation – Timewave Zero

Timewave Zero (Century Media) is, to say the least, not what you’d expect from the band picture of the Blood Incantation. The almost archetypal group of hirsute metalheads, adorned with bullet belts and indecipherable long sleeves trying to look hard in a graveyard. Even by their own standards of innovative recordings though this is a pretty-radical departure from their previous albums.

CONCERT REVIEW: Brit Floyd – Live at Wind Creek Event Center, Bethlehem, PA,

Brit Floyd is a Pink Floyd tribute band, but to call them such diminishes what they have really achieved. They formed in 2011, and have been performing the Pink Floyd catalogue ever since. The brainchild of now musical director Damian Darlington, it has evolved over the years to become a grand spectacle closely mirroring a Pink Floyd concert. Brit Floyd is more of a passion project honoring the music and performances of Pink Floyd than just a tribute.Continue reading

Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon Classic “Eclipse” Featured in First Trailer for “Dune”

Dune, the classic sci-fi and fantasy property is coming back strong IN 2020 with a new version out this December. The first full trailer just dropped and it features a familiar song to Pink Floyd fans! The final track of Dark Side of The Moon, their all-time progressive rock classic, “Eclipse” can be heard in the trailer, with its especially prophetic lyrics about the human condition drawing a direct parallel to the deeper context of the book the film was based on. Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve with a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve, and Eric Roth and stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya Coleman, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.
