By waiving fees for bands one Friday, every month, for 2020 since the coronavirus (COIVISD-19) pandemic began. The relief dates have paid out over $75 million dollars to bands while taking no fees, encouraging fans to spend more on the platform, as bands seek relief. 800,000 fans have bought music on Bandcamp Fridays in 2020. Bandcamp has now announced additional Friday events for 2021. February 5th, was the first this year. Today is the next, with another Bandcamp Friday planned for May 7th. The last relief date paid out upwards of 4 million dollars to bands while taking no fees, encouraging fans to spend more on the platform that day, as bands seek relief from the global pandemic crisis. Now the platform has announced additional relief days on top of this week, on. June 5th and July 3rd. The waivers on May 1, June 5, and July 3 do not include artist subscription payments or vinyl pressing campaign pledges.
