ALBUM REVIEW: Cortez – Sell The Future

Cortez’s third full-length album shows a certain spark that was merely hinted at the Boston group”s previous releases. This is immediately established with the opening”No Escape,” which comes crashing in with a template more in line with Classic Metal than their usual Stoner Rock. I find myself reminded of Cauldron or Castle as the driving tempo sustains a reverb-friendly production job with a slew of flamboyant guitar leads, gritty bass, and chanted vocals to go around.

RPM Fest, the western Massachusetts-based, fiercely independent, all-ages (those under 18 must be with a parent or guardian) weekend of DIY metal music and camping has completed their final 2019 lineup with a series of reveals across social media. Inter Arma, Psychostick, Mobile Deathcamp, and The Absence have joined the bill that already includes Tombs, Acid Witch, Child Bite, INCITE, Against the Grain, S.N.A.F.U., Dead Empires, BARISHI, Heavy Temple, Cortez, Solium Fatalis, Hey Zeus, Epicenter, Ice Giant, Age of Embers, CAZADOR, VRSA, Goblet, Hepatagua, Jeopardy, Bellower, Lobotomobile, Das Muerte, The Beast of Nod, The Damaged, Worshipper, Sonic Pulse, Virus of Ideals, The Humanoids and many more bands. Roadburn Festival Adds Minsk, Mount Salem and Worm Ouroboros To Lineup

Roadburn Festival has added Minsk, Mount Salem and Worm Ouroboros to their lineup for Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the 013. Goatwhore, Downfall of Gaia, Cortez, Fister and Moloch have been added at Cul de Sac.

However, Lord Mantis will no longer be performing and Fistula will be taking their place on April 11, 2015.

Curated by Ivar Bjørnson (Enslaved) and Wardruna‘s Einar “Kvitrafn” Selvik, Roadburn Festival 2015 (including Fields of the Nephilim, Anathema, Skuggsjá, Enslaved, Wardruna, Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin performing Dawn of The Dead and Susperia in its entirety, Zombi, Sólstafir, White Hills, Bongipper, Floor, Eyehategod and The Heads as Artist In Residence among others) will run from Thursday, April 9 to Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
