Hop-Hop, Metal and acting legend Ice-T of Body Count has had an entire career working in in movies and television series, such as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Listen to him narrate the commercial for SuperBowl LVI (56) taking place next Sunday, February, 13th, 2022 on NBC and Peacock! The commercial promoting the big game between the Los Angeles Rams vs The Cincinnati Bengals also features the music track “Harder Than You Think” by Public Enemy. Ice-T and Body count won a Grammy for Carnivore in 2021, and will release a new album in 2022 via Century Media.

Riot Fest 2021 Adds Patti Smith, Alkaline Trio, The Flaming Lips and More


Riot Fest has made the final weekend additions to the 2021 event, kicking off September 19th, 2021, which will be the fest’s first-ever Thursday Preview Party. Patti Smith and Her Band and Alkaline Trio will join Thursday night, with additional sets from Joyce Manor (performing their self-titled 2011 debut), WDRL, and Kristeen Young. As for Sunday, The Flaming Lips will return to Riot Fest on Sunday, bringing the fest-favorites back to Douglass Park on September 19 to replace Pixies. Sunday attendees will also get into the Thursday Preview Party for free, with a host of freshly-announced perks included. Tickets are on sale now at the link below.

Metal mainstays such as In This Moment, and Body Count, while upstarts Code Orange and modern legends Power Trip were among the “Best Metal Performance” nominees at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, which will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS television network on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT. The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah. Last year’s best Metal Performance award went to Tool, honored with a Grammy in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards, which was held on January 26 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tool was nominated for “7empest”, a track from its 2019 album Fear Inoculum. Other related nominees include Beastie Boys and ZZ Top in the film category and Bill and Ted 3 for multi-media.

ALBUM REVIEW: (HED) P.E. – Class of 2020


(HED) P.E. releases a solidly decent album with Class of 2020 (Suburban Noize Records). The band, hailing from Southern California, truly embodies the eclectic skater vibe of the area. The album is a mix of rock, funk, and rap. Jared Gomes, Jeremiah Stratton, Kurt Blankenship, DJ Blackard, and Chad Benekos are a tight outfit, and Class of 2020 has no wasted riffage.

Hellfest Open Air recently completed its first-ever online streaming festival. Hopefully, the real thing is coming back next summer! The venerable metal and rock fest announced their lineup for 2021, with most of the bands slated to have played in 2020, but canceled due to COVID-19. Deftones, Faith No More, System of A Down, Judas Priest, Puscifer, Korn, Volbeat, Opeth, Dropkick Murphys, Northlane, Deep Purple, Wardruna, Rival Sons, Devin Townsend, Suicidal Tendencies, and many more will perform. Ten more bands will be added soon. Thirteen bands slated to play in 2020, but cannot attend 2021 include Incubus, Mastodon, Infectious Groove, Thy Art Is Murder, Alter Bridge, Baby Metal, Joyous Wolf, Unleashed, Meshuggah, The Black Dahlia Murder, Periphery, Body Count and August Burns Red.Continue reading
