Devin Townsend is The First Headliner Announced For Bloodstock 2020


Bloodstock Open Air has made their first headliner announcement for their grand 2020 anniversary festival, naming Devin Townsend to headline Friday Night on the Ronnie James Dio stage. Devin breaks the news in a video you can watch below. Other bands announced are Jinjer, Gloryhammer, joining previously announced acts Skindred, Black Dahlia Murder, Vio-Lence, Sacred Reich, Dark Tranquillity, and Butcher Babies. Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Fever333, Bloodstock Open Air and More Win at The Heavy Music Awards


The third annual Heavy Music Awards were announced last night at a packed O2 Forum Kentish Town, hosted by Laura Jane Grace alongside live performances by Cancer Bats, Loathe, Nova Twins and Delaire The Liar. For the third year in a row, Architects took home a major win with two awards here – the first time any winner has picked up multiple awards at the same HMAs. The Brighton act picked up Best Album for Holy Hell, as well as Best Live Band. Other bands that won include Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, Fever333, Bloodstock Open Air for best festival, Dream State, photographer Paul Harries and more. Devil’s Playground – The Collector


Within just a few months of forming in late 2015, Birmingham act Devil’s Playground had already released a self-titled EP and built up a busy touring schedule. Amon Amarth – The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm


It’s hard to believe that Amon Amarth has been a band for over twenty-five years. The incredible arc of their journey from a suburban bunch of guys from nearby Stockholm, Sweden with a dream to world dominating metal force majeure is nothing short of astounding. As much as I have followed their career as closely as possible, there were definite gaps in my knowledge. In the incredible new documentary/concert film Amon Amarth – The Pursuit Of Vikings: 25 Years In The Eye Of The Storm (Metal Blade) certainly illuminates the backstory of one of the greatest modern metal bands today. It definitely didn’t happen overnight and there were many missteps that could have ensured they never succeeded. However, the Amon Amarth story is about perseverance and the strength to achieve what your mind desires. Continue reading
