Billions on Showtime had its season six finale on Sunday, April 10th, 2022. The series has made constant use of notable music, mostly drawing from Rock and Heavy Metal. In a pinnacle scene in the finale, Mötley Crüe’s hit song “Wild Side” from their 1987 platinum album Girls, Girls, Girls (Elektra Records).
The Showtime hit television series Billions has returned for season six and as usual, it weaves a ton of musical and pop cultural references in the show! In the past they have highlighted episodes with Metallica, Rush, Megadeth, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and more. In the second episode of season six, not only was the song “Lyin Eyes” by The Eagles the title of episode, the song was also prominently featured in it too! “Lyin Eyes” was both a hit for the band on both the Rock and Country charts from their 1975 big commercial breakthrough One of These Nights (Asylum), and again the next year on Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) (Asylum). That album is the third best selling album of all time, and the number one selling Greatest Hits compilation ever. Billions stars Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, Maggie Siff, Asia Kate Dillon, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, and Daniel Breake.
Metallica’s “Hardwired… To Self Destruct” track was heard in the closing seconds of the half-season finale of the Showtime series Billions. The main character of the show Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) is a rock and metal fan and heavy music often shows up in the series. Metallica actually appeared and performed on the show in Season 3. Also heard this season are songs by Rainbow, Greta Van Fleet, and Bobaflex.
Billions, the Showtime drama starring Paul Giamatti, Damien Lewis, and Maggie Siff returned to the air this past week for its fourth season.
