Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” Was Covered in HBO’s Westworld Season Four


Metallica’s Heavy Metal hit “Enter Sandman” got the Westworld treatment tonight as an orchestral instrumental cover of the track was heard in the latest episode. In the HBO shows’s season four, episode three Annees Folles, you can hear a cover by award-winning composer Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones) as he covered the tune. Also, heard in the episode a few seconds of a Ragtime piano cover of “Enter Sandman,” a Ragtime cover of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy,” and Blondie’s Pop Rock hit “Call Me!” Westworld’s use of the music has been amazing throughout the series and featured past covers of Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails among others. INTERVIEW: Heriot: Rising Stars of The UK’s Metal Underground


The last two years have been a hell of a ride for Heriot, the English Post Hardcore/Extreme Metal band who have experienced a rebirth of sorts and are firmly riding the crest of a wave on a distinct upward trajectory. They started life in 2016 as a three-piece, consisting of Jake Packer (vocals/bass), Erhan Alman (guitar), and Julian Gage (drums), but in 2020 drafted in former Dead Hands guitarist Deb Gough, applying depth to their musicianship, while also adding a new voice for the band to share vocal duties with Jake, enabling an intriguing expansion of their sound.

Tool, Cage The Elephant, and Gary Clark Jr. Win for Metal and Rock at the 62nd Grammy Awards


The Grammy Awards announced their winners for the Rock and Metal categories for the 2020 award ceremony, their 62nd edition. Tool won for the Best Metal Performance category for the song ‘7empest’ from their album Fear Inoculum (Tool Dissectional/RCA). Tool members Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor were in attendance to collect the award, which was announced before the broadcast portion of the show. Gary Clark Jr. who was nominated over several categories for multiple tracks won both Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for the track ‘This Land’. Best Rock album honors went to Cage the Elephant for Social Cues. In the more pop-orientated Alternative Rock category, Vampire Weekend won, while other Rock and Metal related artists such as Chris Cornell won for the packaging of his posthumous self-titled boxed set, and The Best Instrumental Album went to metal fans and sometimes cover artists Rodrigo y Gabriella for Mettavolution (ATO Records) The 62nd Grammy Awards are once again hosted by Alicia Keys and will air on CBS.

The Grammy Awards announced their nominees for 2020’s award ceremony, the 62nd edition. Among the nominees across the rock and metal categories are Tool, Bring Me The Horizon, Candlemass (featuring Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath), Death Angel, Killswitch Engage, I Prevail, Rival Sons, Cage The Elephant, Karen O, Bon Iver, Gary Clark Junior and more! You can see all the categories and nominees below. Tool has actually won multiple Grammy awards while Death Angel has never been nominated. Bring Me The Horizon has been nominated for their album Amo (Columbia Records). Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers To Perform At ‘Global Goal Live’ Concert In September 2020


In 2020 Metallica has announced they will take part in the Global Citizen’s 10-hour “Live Aid”-style concert event happening on September 26, 2020 on five continents: Central Park in New York, Lagos in Nigeria, and to-be-announced cities in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. The event will be the culmination of a yearlong campaign dubbed “Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream” that will benefit United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals with aims at ending extreme poverty and tackling climate change.
