Belphegor – Totenritual


The numbers don’t seem to quite add up here. If you look at Belphegor’s latest studio album, Totenritual (Nuclear Blast), on paper it appears to be winner. The production and mix is airtight, drum and guitar tones are punched in exactly where they should be, and Belphegor is nothing if not an extreme metal institution. But despite all of that, many of the tracks displayed on Totenritual just don’t pop or speak to me. Continue reading

Belphegor will be unleashing their new album, Totenritual, on September 15th via Nuclear Blast. What can we expect? Helmuth says this, “It is the most brutally heavy offering we have consecrated thus far. The drums are precise and very technical with loads of breaks, fills and tempo changes. The bass is like a panzer tank. Also the rhythm guitars are complete; utterly aggressive and obscure. You don’t hear guitars like that anywhere with such a massively low tuning. I’m really proud of all we have tracked so far and created for the new audial hellspawn. An honour – this horror!!

Danzig’s Blackest of the Black Festival To Feature Suicidal Tendencies, Ministry, Fear Factory And More


2017 is going to be a busy year for Danzig. The legendary front man has already confirmed that his new album, ‘Black Laden Crown’, will be coming in May (details), plus he announced the return of his “Blackest of the Black Festival” as well. Last night Danzig appeared on Full Metal Jackie’s KLOS radio program to talk about the upcoming festival, and he revealed a ton of bands who are already booked for the huge event. Continue reading
