powered wig machine supa collider

Powered Wig Machine is streaming “Highish Noon”, off their sophomore album Supa-Collider, out via Battleground Records here.

The album now comes raging back to life on 180-gram translucent green vinyl with orange and black splatters, housed in a deluxe gatefold package and bearing the new LP-only track, “Highish Noon,” along with a download of the record.

POWERED WIG MACHINE Live:
Mar 17: JR’s Bar – Sierra Vista, AZ (w/ Ape Machine, Ghetto Blaster)

Now in their eighth year as a band, Powered Wig Machine’s ever-evolving, entertaining brew of fuzzed-out, southern fried blues-boogie and righteous jams merging classic rock/blues influences with that of top-tier modern rock acts, the Tombstone, Arizona-based “Tombstoners” have issued several recorded works since inception, including their 2009 debut full-length, Bearded Goddess. In March of 2014 the band delivered the fantastic jams of their sophomore album, Supa-Collider, their dexterous diversity and empowering tactics shining brighter than the blazing sun which ignites their desert surroundings on the album, putting the listener on cruise control into the furthest reaches of the planet and beyond, the tunes infiltrated with a slight flux of sci-fi otherworldliness. Self-recorded by the band and mixed by Brian Gold at Primrose Studio in Sierra Vista, mastered by Chris Goosman at Baseline Audio, the artwork was crafted by Joseph Rudell and Rudy Flores. Fans of Clutch, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu, tune in.

Godhunter and Amigo The Devil Streaming “Weeping Willow”

Amigo The Devil & Godhunter EP collaboration

Godhunter and Amigo The Devil are streaming “Weeping Willow,” off their GODHUNTER & AMIGO THE DEVIL Present: The Outer Dark two song seven inch, out now via Battleground Records, here.

The morose two-song 7″ bears a heart-wrenching original track named “Weeping Willow” leading things off on the A-side, and a stark rendition of Nirvana’s “Something In The Way” on the B-side, and the whole thing showcasing both acts in an entirely new way, which is streamed here.

godhunter and amigo the devil

GODHUNTER & AMIGO THE DEVIL Present: The Outer Dark is on its way from the plant, destined for grim unveiling on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14th, as a co-release between GODHUNTER-partially-owned Battleground Records and EARSPLIT‘s label subdivision, The Compound. With an ominous, acoustic, folk/Western musical theme far removed from GODHUNTER’s abrasive hardcore/crust-influenced sludge tones, here the quintet – guitarists/vocalists Jake Brazelton and David Rodgers, bassist Dick Williamson, drummer Andy Kratzenberg, and keyboardist/cellist Matthew Davis – is joined by one Danny Kiranos, a.k.a. AMIGO THE DEVIL, who supplies soaring vocals and ethereal Theremin contributions to the two-song 7″. The Outer Dark was recorded in multiple sessions during the Summer of 2014 at Arcane Digital Studios in Chandler, Arizona, and was produced, mixed and mastered by Ryan Butler.

One Ton Project Streaming “The Vineyard”

one ton project

Las Vegas quintet One Ton Project is streaming a trailer for “The Vineyard” here and the entire track here, off their Gizzards & Hearts album, out this spring via Battleground Records.

one ton project gizzard and hearts

Gizzards & Hearts Track Listing:
01. The Axeman
02. Deathjazz
03. The Difference
04. Blacklight
05. Protagonist
06. Right Through Me
07. 6s & 7s
08. John The Clown
09. The Vineyard
10. Brother
11. Flight 13
12. Cadence

The influences and flavors of the past shine brightly within the particular elixir that is the ONE TON PROJECT sound with each further sampling by the listener. Tuneful gemstones pried loose from the gilded throne of King Crimson are ground up and blended with a bit of Frank Zappa’s mad genius and a healthy serving of the eternal groove handed down to the present day by the titans of soul and R&B, all of which sets and gels comfortably under a healthy coating of modern rock varnish. Between three guitarists, three vocalists, a bassist, and a drummer, along with the colorful tones of unconventional instruments thrown in to the mix, the end result is the sound of a band making the music they love and taking their time to do so, without the pressure of being involved in the stream of trends and temporary satisfaction. Rather, the band has scratched out a stake on the shores of that ungovernable island of artistry where strange trips and weird dreams are brought to life through song. Self-produced over the course of several years in the instrument crowded warren of the band’s own studio, the uniquely unorthodox recording possesses a variety of sound so mercurial, it is impossible to nail ONE TON PROJECT down with the constrictive restraints of any one genre. Traditional rock structures and soulful vocal patterns flow into the pulsing rhythms of reggae, jazz breaks fuse with the sharp timbre of Eastern scales, and catchy hooks create sparks as they clash with progressive post-rock soundscapes and bluesy phrases.

One Ton Project Releasing Gizzards and Hearts In Spring

Las Vegas rockers One Ton Project is releasing Gizzards & Hearts this spring via Battleground Records. Boasting an incredible array of influences into a cohesive, seamless, and explosively creative blend of what the band self-describes as “a bountiful cocktail of sounds on an oasis of rhythms,” ONE TON PROJECT is about to unload a record for fans of all realms of rock music.

Eleven years of musical experimentation and not settling for the safety inherent in the word “normal” will get you some interesting results; thus is certainly the case with ONE TON PROJECT. The aptly named troupe consists of five members with five different perspectives, but there is one common thread which binds all of these aspects together: creativity and pushing the envelope of musical endeavor further out from the center of conventional practice. And over the edge that proverbial envelope does indeed go, as evidenced on the band’s upcoming debut album, Gizzards & Hearts.

ONE TON PROJECT:
Daniel Fuller – drums, vocals
Adam Sage – bass
Joe Munoz – guitars
Brandon Desmond – guitars, vocals
Travis Mercer – lead vocals, guitars
