Download Festival was one of the first major festivals in the heavy music work canceled due o the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Now we are getting a virtual festival set to take place. Mark off June 12-14 for some prime rock and metal viewing, with many top acts taking part. The Download TV weekend will be split into day and evening programming, with tailor-made shows featuring Iron Maiden, System of a Down and KISS leading the way. KISS will headline the Friday (June 12) festivities, with a replay of standout moments from their huge 2015 headline set. Iron Maiden head up the Saturday (June 13) programming with nostalgic performances, “Legacy of the Beast” snippets, as well as “something just for Download TV.” And System of a Down will close out the virtual festival on Sunday (June 14) with footage from their performances in 2005, 2011 and 2017. Slipknot’s Knotfest Japan joins the growing ranks of rescheduled festivals for 2021. Originally the first major festival postponed, Knotfest Japan will now take place on January 10th and 11th of next year with much of the same lineup. Knotfest Japan 2021 will feature Slipknot headlining both nights, along with Anthrax, Marilyn Manson, Man With A Mission, BABYMETAL, coldrain, Crossfaith, Suicide Silence, and more! BABYMETAL has shared a trailer for theri upcoming DVD and Blu-ray, “Live At The Forum”! Due on May 13, the effort was filmed at the Japanese pop-metal band’s October 2019 first-ever arena concert in the U.S. at the The Forum in Los Angeles.
The concert was Su-metal and Moametal’s second headlining arena concert outside of Japan. The 15-song set focuses on material from BABYMETAL’s latest studio album, “Metal Galaxy”, including “Da Da Dance”, “Shanti Shanti Shanti” and “Pa Pa Ya!!”
Theatrical Metallers Avatar have shared a new musical featurette inspired by their latest album Avatar Country (eOne Music), Legend Of Avatar Country A Metal Odyssey today. The featurette was originally crowdfunded on Kickstarter, where the goal was quickly met in only 90 minutes. Now available to the public at large via a YouTube premiere today, Legend Of Avatar Country: A Metal Odyssey marks the finale of the Avatar Country story for the band. Following their North American tour supporting BABYMETAL, Avatar has also shared that they’ve been in the studio working on a follow up to Avatar Country with producer Jay Ruston.
