Brutal Assault 2019 has added another badass batch of bands for the next edition of the festival. Joining an incredible bill that already features greats such as Dimmu Borgir, Godflesh, Anthrax, Meshuggah, Carcass, Sacred Reich, and Carpenter Brut, new additions to the fest include Sodom, Sick Of It All, Therion, EyeHateGod, Gost, Wormed, and Vulvodynia. One-hundred and thirty bands will play in the ancient and legendary Josefov Fortress castle on four stages all weekend from 7 -10 August 2019. Download 2019 has mad a major announcement today as forty-three new bands have been added! Among the new bands added are Stone Temple Pilots, Halestorm, Clutch, Behemoth, Beartooth, Alcest, Animals As Leaders, At The Gates, Bad Wolves, Three Days Grace, Twelve Foot Ninja and more. Slipknot, Tool, and Def Leppard are the headliners for the annual rock extravaganza. The three-day festival takes place on 14-16 June 2019 at the spiritual home of rock in Donington Park, Leicestershire. Kerrang! Radio have also launched a talent search for a chance to open the Avalanche Stage at the festival.Continue reading

Brutal Assault Festival 2019 continues to gain steam, as they recently added Voivod, Violator, Dr. Living Dead, Slapshot, Ensiferum, Decapitated, Animals as Leaders, Car Bomb, Letters From The Colony and Zuriaake to the bill. One-hundred and thirty bands will play in the ancient and legendary Josefov Fortress castle on four stages all weekend from 7 -10 August 2019. Members Of Lamb Of God, Animals As Leaders, Sworn Enemy Members Unite In Supergroup Over It All


Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe, Animals As Leaders guitarist Javier Reyes, Sworn Enemy guitarist Lorenzo Antonucci, 33 & West Booking Agency co-founder JJ Cassiere and Mediaskare Records head Baron Bodnar have created a new supergroup called Over It All. Blythe posted to his Instagram news of the band and that they seem to be touring, but it’s unclear to or for what. He also thanked Sumerian Records, hinting that label is behind the band and may have already signed them. We are excited to see what music this group can make and we will post updates when we can. Reaction videos are nothing new, but we found a real gem today. Watch as these parents slowly lose their shit watching “extreme metal” videos by Behemoth, Architects, Arch Enemy, And Fleshgod Apocalypse, Animals As Leaders, The Black Satans, Lady Baby, Nekrogoblikon, Signs of Swarm and (big sigh) Attack, Attack. Okay, most of these bands hardly qualify as extreme metal at all, but the videos are priceless as middle American moms and dads have a field day. Props to YouTuber Cole Dockter for sharing. Schiermann – Schiermann


Despite this being a début release, the name Schiermann is highly regarded in the contemporary progressive metal/djent community. At the helm is guitarist Chris Schiermann, who over the course of a decade of recording and writing music has befriended many titans in the genre, with the likes of Animals As Leaders, DispersE and TesseracT, and has taken inspiration from a wide range of influences and styles from such contemporary metal maestros to the virtuoso guitar players, most notably like Randy Rhoads. A wide palette that is abundantly clear on his début solo project release Schiermann (Purple Sun), which includes a plethora of guest appearances from such alumni as mentioned and thus offers a vibrant mix and character.Continue reading
