AC/DC’s Shares New Video for “Through The Mists Of Time”


AC/DC has shared a new music video for their track “Through The Mists Of Time” from their 2020 album, Power Up (read our review here) It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, giving the legendary rock band its third chart-topping album in their career. The clip is a rock and roll museum tour through an exhibition of the band’s incredible history. Based on a concept by guitarist Angus Young, director Najeeb Tarazi and creative director Josh Cheuse used footage shot by Clemens Habicht of each of the five bandmembers in five separate shoots around the world. They then enlisted Mathematic, a Paris-based visual effects studio, to combine all the elements so the band could take the stage together to perform the fan favorite from “Power Up”, almost one year to the day that the highly anticipated album was announced.

The new studio effort was released via Columbia Records on Nov. 13 and starts with 117,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music. AC/DC previously hit No. 1 with 2008’s Black Ice and 1981’s For Those About to Rock (We Salute You). Power Up is AC/DC’s 26th charting album, and 10th top 10. Power Up has registered the largest sales week of 2020 for a rock album. The last rock set to log a larger sales frame was Tool’s Fear Inoculum (248,000; chart dated Sept. 14, 2019). Power Up’s sales were assisted by some retailer exclusive editions, vinyl variants, and an elaborate limited-edition deluxe CD package that retails for $49. (The tracklist across all versions of the album — CD, vinyl, and digital download — is identical.) Watch Angus Young Discuss his Late Brother Malcolm a New Behind The Scenes Teaser from AC/DC


 

In a new video posted on AC/DC’s YouTube channel, the band shared some more behind the scenes clips from the making of their upcoming new album Power Up. Angus described the album as a tribute to his late brother, founding AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who died in 2017 from effects of dementia at age 64. Malcolm is credited as a writer on all 12 tracks on Power Up. This is the second album in the band’s career that is a tribute to a fallen member. Back In Black (review here), which turned 40 this summer, was a tribute to former frontman Bon Scott who died prior to the album. The band shared their new single, “Shot In The Dark” last week.

Now the legendary group will officially release “Shot In The Dark”, the first single from the band’s long-awaited comeback album, on Wednesday, October 7 at 12:00 a.m. EDT / 9:00 p.m. PDT (Tuesday night). The New AC/DC Song “A Shot In The Dark” Heard in the New Dodge “Talladega Nights” Car Commercial


 

Friday AC/DC teased their comeback with posters and then dropped a snippet of their new song on social media. Now you can hear “A Shot In The Dark” in a new car commercial from Dodge, featuring characters from characters from the movie Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby! Set in 1981, the action features a young Ricky Bobby driving a 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, being chased by his father Reese Bobby (Gary Cole reprising his role from the original film) in a 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. AC/DC Teases New Single “A Shot In The Dark”


Hard rock legends AC/DC have teased a brand new song and video, likely premiering tomorrow dubbed “A Shot In The Dark”! The song is the lead single off their new album, mostly likely titled Power Up! The song is classic sounding AC/DC and features what sounds like a big, rock chorus. Check out the teaser below! As we shared the news yesterday, the band formally announced their comeback officially. The band released the first official photo of its reunited lineup, featuring returning frontman Brian Johnson alongside drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams and guitarists Angus and Stevie Young. The photo confirms the new lineup and likely new album title PWRUP, with details soon to be revealed. Earlier this week, a mysterious poster appeared outside Angus’s old school in Sydney, Australia. The poster placed outside of Ashfield Boys High School reads: “Are You Ready? SYD PWR UP.” At the bottom of the advertisement, there was a link to a web site with the iconic AC/DC red neon lightning logo. On the website itself, there are links to the AC/DC store as well as a “Power Up” e-mail sign-up, leading to speculation that the band’s long-awaited new album is called “Power Up”. A newly released teaser video from AC/DC, simply featuring the hashtag #PWRUP, only fuels the chatter. Short teaser videos have shown up on Social Media this week. This news is the latest in the saga of the retain of one of rock music’s leading bands. More to come on the news front as it is announced.
