On July 29th, fans eagerly gathered in Phoenix, Arizona’s Financial Theater for Yellowcard’s highly-awaited comeback tour which celebrated 20 years since the release of their freshman album Ocean Avenue. Needless to say, after a long hiatus, the fans expected a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and powerful performances from all the bands that came together in support of this tour.
Author and Promoter Estevan Vega of Capulet Entertainment joins Ghost Cult Keefy to chat about the upcoming Capulet Fest 2023. The fest takes place at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, Connecticut July 1 and 2nd, and features Memphis May Fire, Norma Jean, All That Remains, Anberlin, A Skylit Drive, Emery, Within The Ruins, and many more! We chatted with Estevan about his ten-year journey booking shows and now festivals, what it takes to book a festival and do it professionally, his career as an author, and more!

Capulet Festival returns to Connecticut this summer for an even bigger event than ever before. Taking place at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, Connecticut July 1 and 2nd, the first features a ton of Metal, Metalcore, and post-Hardcore bands. Headlining the fest are Memphis May Fire and Norma Jean on night one, and All That Remains and Anberlin on night 2. They will be joined by A Skylit Drive, Emery, A Skylit Drive (playing Wires in full), Secrets, For the Fallen Dreams, Until I Wake, Famous Last Words, Catch Your Breath, Spoken, Outline in Color, Set for the Fall, Versus Me, Saul, Nerv, Awake at Last, VRSTY, Dead By Wednesday, Nowhere Left, and Magnets for Maniacs on night one. Night two also features Woe is Me, Savage Hands, Picturesque, Within the Ruins, Convictions, Any Given Sin, Dreamwake, Horizon Theory, Kingsmen, Uncured, Kill the Imposter, Rise Among Rivals, Destroy / Create, Little Us, Saved By Skarlet, and Gina Fritz.
MxPx is gearing up for a busy 2023! Today, the band announced they will be headlining Furnace Fest in Birmingham, AL this Fall, closing the first night on September 22, 2023. Other headliners on the fest include Turnstile, Bane, and Pennywise. With new music on the way, the band plans to be making more appearances this year, including the highly raved-about When We Were Young Festival in 2023 alongside Blink-182 and Green Day (now with an additional day).
The highly anticipated destination music festival aimed at Punks, elder Emos, and millennials, When We Were Young Festival featuring My Chemical Romance, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne has been forced to cancel day one of their sold out event. The cancellation was announced at 10 AM PST, just an hour before gates were to open at Las Vegas Festival Grounds. due to high winds. Winds were forecasted for up to 30-40 MPH which increases the safety hazard for an outdoor stage. The fest is still expected to take place tomorrow and again next weekend; on October 29th, 2022.
Riot Fest has added Taking Back Sunday, Coolio, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, Zola Jesus, Reece Young, Poliça and cumgirl8 join the diverse lineup of bands playing September 16-18 in Douglass Park. Kraken Music Fest takes place at The Orlando Amphitheater in Orlando, Florida Saturday, February 19th, 2022 and features performances from The Used, Anberlin, Story Of The Year, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Evergreen Terrace, We’re Wolves, and The Dev. The fest has also announced set times for the day! As Florida’s first independent rock festival, Kraken Fest has quickly become a main event, with last year’s festival seeing thousands of fans in attendance supporting headliner Taking Back Sunday. Let’s take it way back to Warped Tour ca. 2004 as When We Were Young Festival has announced their 2022 lineup. A Punk, Emo, and Metalcore kids dream, the lineup includes headliners My Chemical Romance and Paramore. Other bands on the bill include Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, The Linda Lindas, Alkaline Trio, Thursday, AFI, Meet Me @ The Altar, Avril Lavigne, Senses Fail, The Wonder Years, ADTR, Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Motionless in White, Atreyu, Four Year Strong, Palaye Royale, Acceptance, Anberlin, Knocked Loose, Silverstein, Bright Eyes, Dance Gavin Dance and more are among the bands announced. A year ago there were no shows to attend, let alone tours or festivals. As we claw our way slowly out of the darkest time in recent history as music fans, and concert goers (and photogs and writers too) the specialness of even the average show is not going to be taken for granted right now. So the return of Chain Fest, which has sprouted a life of its own after a humble beginning as the flagship event for Anaheim, California’s Chain Reaction, is huge for fans and really, the entire SoCal scene. While Chain Reaction remains a vital venue for bands, Chain Fest has kind of become a monster, growing every year and expanding to the Fivepoint Amphitheatre. When it was announced for 2021 and sold out pretty fast you could tell the excitement was high. Chain fest not only features special bands from Punk, Indie, Emo, and post-Hardcore, but always features bands doing special sets you can’t see anywhere else. We are all kind of living in a 2021 Punk version of Almost Famous where “it’s all happening” all the time!
