Punk Rock Vegan Movie, a new documentary written and directed by Moby, will have its world premiere and be the Opening Night film for the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival on January 20 in Park City, Utah. The film, which is Moby’s directorial debut, is a passionate and stylistically idiosyncratic look at the ongoing relationship between the worlds of punk rock and animal rights. It includes interviews with some of the biggest names in punk and rock history, like Ian Mackaye, HR, Dave Navarro, Ray Cappo, Andrew Hurley, Tony Kanal, Tim McIlrath, Water Schreifels, Dave Dictor, Derrick Green, Steve Ignorant, Theo Kogan, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Amy Lee, and Captain Sensible.
Former Delain singer and songwriter Charlotte Wessels will release her solo debut album Tales From Six Feet Under, via Napalm Recordson September 17, 2021. The album is a compilation of her tracks from her pandemic era Patreon sessions, in which she put out an eclectic series of tracks, one per month, from her home recording studio, Six Feet Under Studios. The album also features a stirring collab with Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy. Check out the first single and new video for Soft Revolution – along with a studio report from a few months back.
Ghost Cult caught up with Thomas Youngblood of Kamelot recently to discuss their brand new live album/concert DVD and Blu-ray Kamelot – I Am The Empire – Live From The 013, out now via Napalm Records (review here). We have all been feverish. We have all sometimes given in to the temperature rising inside of us, being ridden by a ghost that made us do things we didn’t want to do, but it somehow felt good afterwards, like a purging of the mortal organism that confines us.
‘Feverish’ follows the band’s globally acclaimed new album, Verkligheten (album of the month in Metal Hammer, Rock Hard, Aardschok and Scream), which was released in January as well as the incendiary Underworld EP which dropped this summer.
The new Babymetal album starts off with a funky blend of techno video game and chunky 90s metal power chords. It then whiplashes into some futuristic techno power metal thing. Global metal sensation BABYMETAL has shared a new music video for their single ‘Shanti Shanti Shanti’ from their upcoming album Metal Galaxy out October 11th via earMUSIC. The track comes in the midst of their North American tour that culminates in their first US arena show at The Forum in Los Angles on album release day, where they will bring their huge, Japanese-style production to the States for the first time.
