Northeastern Indiana may not be the first area that would come to mind when considering a hotspot for art and culture. Yet Fort Wayne’s Clyde Theatre is a state-of-the-art facility that presents and celebrates some of the world’s greatest artists. Originally a movie house from the fifties, this recently renovated theatre carries a vibrant vintage vibe making it a local gem to the surrounding area. The place was lit with life last Sunday evening when hundreds of metal lovers swarmed through the venue’s historic doors. The French Extreme Metal act, Gojira was in town. These modern metallers have been on US soil for the last couple of months promoting their new album, Fortitude (Roadrunner Records, read our review here), which came out this past Spring. Fort Wayne was their third to last stop on this run, yet they made it clear they would be back state-side very soon. Over the last few years, Gojira is a group that has heated things up for the scene. They brought two new budding bands on tour to complement their fire. Alien Weaponry and Knocked Loose have their own high temperatures to give off, which ignited an evening of feverish and fantastic excitement. Continue reading →
Gojira have shared an official music video for “Sphinx,” a standout track from their acclaimed new album Fortitude (Roadrunner Records). Directed and animated by Zev Deans, the music video sees Gojira delivering a pulverizing performance at the feet of the infamous Egyptian colossus. Watch it at the link below. The band has also kicked off a short headline tour of the USA with special guests Knocked Loose and Alien Weaponry! Catch them soon in your town! Continue reading →
Back in 2018, armed with debut album Tū (Napalm Records) and a reputation for blistering live performances, teenagers Alien Weaponry arrived on the scene with a bang. Fusing groove metal with influences derived from their own Māori culture, the band possess a highly individual sound, but one that in some quarters has also appeared to earn them the disappointingly reductive nickname of “The New Zealand Sepultura”.
Modern Metal legends Gojira have announced their return to Europe with a headline tour January – March 2022. The new dates, which will be split into two legs, feature special guests Alien Weaponry and Employed To Serve. The first leg kicks off Jan 17th in Finland and closes in France on Feb 9th, with the second leg picking up in The Netherlands on Feb 20th and wrapping in the UK on Mar 14th. Gojira is touring in support of their recently released new album Fortitude (Roadrunner). You can read our review here:
Alien Weaponry has announced that the original bassist Ethan Trembath has amicably exited the group to pursue studio work and to spend more time with his family. Replacing Ethan in the band is Turanga Morgan-Edwards who grew up playing music with the band and shares Maori ancestry with the group. The group shared a video making the announcement and even showed all four musicians recording vocals together in the studio. The thrash/group metal group was a revelation internationally the last few year, earning major touring slots and playing festivals all over the world. The band is expected to release new music in 2021, the follow up to 2018’s Tū full-length and 2019’s EP Blinded, both for Napalm Records. Watch the video below.
Ghost Cult is stoked to share the new single from Draemora – “Guilt”! The track comes from their upcoming EP Awakening (Ultra Nast Records). ‘Guilt’ features the band’s penchant for mixing their brutal modern metal with glorious rock melodies! Think of a sound that meshes Gojira, Alien Weaponry, Faith No More, and the more recent era of Lamb of God, and you might begin to understand the group! Check out the track now and pre-order the EP from your new favorite band, below!Continue reading →
