Milwaukee Metal Fest 2023 has announced its comeback for 2023! The iconic, midwestern, multi-day event was the stuff of legends and is returning to prominence in 2023. Hatebreed frontman and podcaster Jamey Jasta purchased the rights last year and today announces the lineup for Milwaukee Metal Fest 2023. Modern Death Metal leaders Thy Art Is Murder and After The Burial will team up for a co-headline tour. their “Back From The Gulag Tour” embarks on May 10th in Sacramento and will make stops in Atlanta, Toronto, and Chicago prior to concluding in Portland, Oregon on June 18th. Death Metal rising act Undeath has shared a new-ish track – “Diemented Dissection” via Decibel Magazine online. The track originally featured as part of Decibel’s Flexi Series. The track is the bands first new music since their 2020 debut full length – Lesions of a Different Kind (Prosthetic Records). The band, now a five-piece, kicks off their new tourdates this week accross North American tour alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, After The Burial, Carnifex and Rivers of Nihil for September and October. Enigmatic Progressive Death Metal Band Rivers of Nihil have teased a new album, music and music video. The one-minute teaser was shared to YouTube with album artwork popping up in other places such as social media and the Bandsintown app. The ominous shot of the band says “The Work” begins July 27th, apparently when a song/video will drop, like their new album, from Metal Blade Records. It remains to be confirmed if the “The Work” is the single title or album title. The teaser has some pretty dramatic intro music too. They shared a previous teaser a week ago which you can see below. The band will also participate in the Up From The Sewer Tour, headed up by The Black Dahlia Murder, After The Burial, Carnifex, and Undeath.
Legendary Melo-death band The Black Dahlia Murder will embark on a headline tour of North America as the first foray back to full-time touring. The tour features After The Burial, Carnifex, Rivers of Nihil, and Undeath as openers. Dubbed “Up From The Sewer Tour 2021”, this will be the first trek in support of The Black Dahlia Murder’s critically acclaimed album, Verminous (review here), released in April 2020 via Metal Blade Records. American Satan, the 2017 movie Directed by Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen will see a television sequel Paradise City soon. The film starred and featured music from many Sumerian cornerstone artists with a score co-written by Jonathan Davis of Korn. Having already reviewed Whitechapel this year, it seems only fitting that a new After The Burial record would come along so soon after. Whilst not being in the same sphere of musical style at all both bands are at a similar point in their careers. Brutal Assault 2019 has added another bunch of bands for the next edition of the festival! New bands added include Parkway Drive, Azusa, Nordjevel, Combichrist, Caspian, Violent Magic Orchestra, Caspian, Déluge, Frog Leap, and Hexis. the bill with more to come. One-hundred and thirty bands will play in the ancient and legendary Josefov Fortress castle on four stages all weekend from 7 -10 August 2019.
