NBC News shared its 2020 annual recap of those we have lost from entertainment and pop culture. Among the legends who were paid tribute, rockers like Neil Peart, Eddie Van Halen, and Frankie Banali, Metal vocalist Riley Gale, composer and pop/rock artist Adam Schlesinger, and many more. Many other music heroes such as Ennio Morricone, Charlie Daniels, Kenny Rogers, Charley Pride, and others were also honored, along with iconic figures who passed away such as Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Chadwick Boseman, Alex Trebek, James Lipton, Vera Lynn (mentioned in a Pink Floyd song on The Wall), Congressman John Lewis, and sadly many, many more. Adam Schlesinger, Co-Founder of Fountains of Wayne, Dies from Coronavirus


Sad news to report as Fountains of Wayne songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Schlesinger, who had been hospitalized while dealing with coronavirus, has died. He was just 52. According to Rolling Stone, Schlesinger’s lawyer, Josh Grier, confirmed the news of his passing. Earlier in the week, Grier had reported that Schlesinger was sick and heavily sedated while also using a ventilator. As a member of Fountains of Wayne, he was nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocal for the song ‘Stacy’s Mom.’ Fountains of Wayne recorded five albums, with the tracks ‘Stacy’s Mom’ and ‘Radiation Vibe’ being their biggest hits.
