REVIEW: The Last Martyr – “Like A Ghost”

Australian Metalcore masters The Last Martyr has shared the video to their powerful new single, ‘Like a Ghost’, which you can watch at the link below. The standalone single follows their Creatrix EP, which was released this past spring. Jam out to the track now! The band has a local show when they open up for Sydney’s Bare Bones alongside FANGZ

Metalcore band The Last Martyr recently re-released their recent EP Creatrix, which is quite good. Mercurial and dedicated, the band went back to the studio cut a brand new track and a new lyric video, ‘Like A Ghost’, to finish 2019 year out strong. Not content to rest on their laurels the band continues to improve as you can hear.

Starting with heavy, catchy angular riffs, the track hits hard almost immediately. Normally for a song in this genre gets to the verse and softens, but not this song. The catchy guitar melody doesn’t lighten the mood, and the grooves sound tight and in the pocket.

The track has a great vocal performance from Monica Strut who easily tows the line of carrying a slick melody, and going to def-con one when needed. She can rock a mic with the likes of Cristina Scabbia or Ash Costello any day! More than chops, she conveys the emotional weight of the themes of disappointment and heartache.

A step further up than their previous work, we want to hear more tracks like this from The Last Martyr soon!
