Orange Goblin Have Announced A Benefit Show For Team Rock Staff

Earlier this week we learned the shocking news that Metal Hammer’s parent company, Team Rock, has entered administration, which leaves the future of one of heavy metal’s most important magazines ever uncertain. Orange Goblin‘s Ben Ward wanted to help out, and started up a JustGiving account to pay the employees that were laid off right before the holidays. Word quickly spread throughout the scene, and the crowdfunding page has already raised over £77,625 for the staff, but Orange Goblin isn’t done there. They’ve just announced a benefit show at the Black Heart in Camden on January 5th with Steak, and all of the proceeds will go to the JustGiving page.

Here’s what Ben Ward said on the gig: “A few days ago when I heard the news that my good friends at Team Rock were being made redundant with no pay during Christmas week I just felt that I had to do something. That night my girlfriend and I set up the Just Giving page and within 2 days we had raised almost £60,000 and we were blown away by the response and generosity of people all over the world. To help raise even more, Orange Goblin will play a very special show at the Black Heart in Camden on January 5th. This will be a minimum £10 donation to get in and admission will be on a first come, first served basis as the venue only holds 120 people! All proceeds for the night will go to the Just Giving page in hope that we can give something back to the journalists that have supported our band and our scene for many, many years.

This is an amazing gesture from Orange Goblin, and it only proves that the metal family is the best on the planet. No matter what happens, we will always support each other. We always have, and we always will, and that’s what makes our scene so special.

If you can make it to the show, you should go, but if not, you can still help out by donating what you can to the JustGiving page!
