Youth Code x King Yosef – A Skeleton Key In The Doors of Depression
I’ve been a fan of Youth Code for a hot minute now and since they released this collaboration album with King Yosef back in March it’s been in regular rotation. Here’s hoping they come over to the UK some time soon.

The Body – I’ve Seen All I Need To See
My own personal go-to winter record this year. Moody.

Hellish Form – Remains
So, I stumbled across Hellish Form as they’re a project of Body Void’s Willow Ryan. Remains has this sort of saudade quality to it that I really love, this might actually be my most played album of the year.

Deafheaven – Infinite Granite
Infinite Granite feels like a logical metamorphosis that the band have been hinting at since Roads to Judah. I know it divided a few people upon release, but when hasn’t Deafheaven done that?

Cerce – Cowboy Music
And just like that, Cerce is back from the dead. It’s been 9(!?) long years, but it was well worth the wait. A gem of a punk album.

Emma Ruth Rundle – Engine of Hell
I’m not crying, you are. I can’t wait to see these songs performed live next year.

Five The Hierophant – Through Aureate Void
If loving trip-hop, black metal and avant-garde saxophone music is wrong then I don’t want to be right. Five The Hierophant are one of the UK’s best kept secrets and I’d love to see that change in 2022, more people should be listening to this band.

King Woman – Celestial Blues
I mean, what more can be said about King Woman that’s not been said in numerous reviews and interviews before? Kris Esfandiari is an amazing songwriter / talent in general, Celestial Blues is otherworldly.

Dear Laika – Pluperfect Mind
Talking of otherworldly, Dear Laika’s Pluperfect Mind is like nothing else I’ve heard this year. I’d probably do it a disservice if I tried to describe it, so I won’t. I will, however, say that everyone should at least give the album a try if you like experimental music of varying colours and shapes.

Jam Baxter – Obscure Liquors
He just doesn’t miss. UK hip hop’s answer to Hunter S Thompson.
