East Bay underground music indie Unknown Controller is reborn! The esoteric metal record label was originally founded in 2001 by Paul Kott, guitarist of Cruevo, High Tone Son of a Bitch (HTSoB), and Kalas, to co-release the Cruevo/Brainoil split, now a sought-after, sludge metal cult classic. Kott, who would eventually partner with Brainoil’s Greg Wilkinson, merging Greg’s Boredom Noise imprint with Unknown Controller to release music by a wide range of artists, including Drunk Horse, Laudanum, Cruevo, Brainoil, HTSoB, Iron Lung, and more, has relaunched the label with a run of cassette-only releases from HTSoB (ex-Kalas, Noothgrush, Melvins, etc., Ails (ex-Ludicra, Abrupt), Keverra (current and ex-Goatsnake, -(16)-) and Boston’s Worshipper.

The official Unknown Controller relaunch ushers in a return to physical format releases with the limited edition cassette series, which includes tape only versions of the HTSOB ‘Lifecycles: EPs of HTSOB’ discography, Ails’ ‘The Unraveling’, Keverra’s eponymous debut, and Worshipper’s ‘Light in the Wire’ album, available on tape for the very first time.
