Former Underoath Guitarist Corey Steger Has Died, Age 42

Former Underoath guitarist Corey Steger has died, tragically as a result of a car accident this week, on March 17th. He was rear-ended in a two-car accident and died. No other information has been released as of yet. The news was reported on Facebook by drummer and friend Dallas Taylor. Steger joined the band in 1998 and played lead and rhythm guitar on Underoath’s influential first three albums: 1999′s Act of Depression, 2000’s Cries of the Past, and 2001’s The Changing of Times. Taylor commented in a lengthy, heartfelt Facebook post.

“I don’t know how to type this. I’m without words,” began Taylor. “Yesterday (3/17/2021) at around 6:00PM, Corey Steger, one of the original founding members of Underoath was rear-ended in a car wreck, and went home to be with the Lord.”

We send our condolences to Corey’s loved ones, and fans at this time.
