Former Slipknot Drummer Joey Jordison Has Died, The Music World Mourns


Terrible news has come down as original Slipknot drummer, and early key member Joey Jordison has died. He was 46. According to a statement by Joey’s family delivered to Billboard.com, Joey was found dead in his sleep. According to TMZ, Joey‘s family said they will hold a private funeral service for him, but it’s unclear when Jordison also previously led bands such as Scar the Martyr, The Murder Dolls, Sinsaenum, Anal Blast, The Have Nots, and Vimic.He also notably recorded with OTEP and was featured on the now classic Roadrunner United album along with many other guest spots. Joey’s family’s statement to Billboard is as follows:

“We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021,” a statement from Jordison’s family to Billboard reads. “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.

“The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time,” the statement adds. “The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”

Naturally, this sudden loss by one of this generations greatest drummers met with an outpouring of support from the larger Rock and Metal community.
