Epicenter Forced To Cancel Part of Day 2 Including Tool and Judas Priest Due To Severe Weather

Sad news as dangerous weather forced the cancelation of Epicenter day two on Saturday (May 11th) causing the cancelation of headliners Tool, Judas Priest, The Cult and many others in Rockingham, North Carolina. The festival organizers released a statement, saying: “For the safety of fans, artists, and staff, the county of Richmond has determined that Epicenter will not resume tonight. The cancelation came several hours after the venue had to be evacuated, and those in attendance, many of whom were camping on the site for the weekend, were urged to seek shelter in vehicles as the storms passed. Although highly disappointing to many fans who shelled out money, time and travel to attend, the safety of the fans and artists needs to come first and foremost. Festival bookers can’t predict the weather, including severe, life-threatening storms. The organizers to their credit have tried to answer fan anger and disappointment with messages in social media and via email to ticket holders. Epicenter day three resumes Sunday, 5/12 at 12 noon EST. Read their statement below.

“Severe weather is continuing and we need to repair damage to the site.

“Please understand that this is a difficult decision and we know how excited each of you were.

“Doors will open at 12PM tomorrow.

“Further information for ticket buyers will be emailed as soon as possible.”

Tool guitarist Adam Jones shared on Instagram, writing: “Thunderstorms & High Winds. Sorry #EpicenterFestival #Rockingham – We are ready to ROCK *This is the stage we are suppose to play tonight. Oops there goes our video wall County of Richmond has official cancelled but #WeWillBeback”
