EP REVIEW: Wolfbrigade – Anti-Tank Dogs

With only three tracks and a short run-time clocking in slighter over ten minutes, Wolfbrigade wasted no time with their hardcore punk assault on their latest EP, Anti-Tank Dogs (Armageddon / Agipunk).

Formed in Sweden in 1995, Wolfbrigade have perfected the perfect blend of the intensity of death metal and the filth and fury of tried and true hardcore punk. The opening title track starts the EP off with an eruption of a megaton bomb with a frenzy of punk fueled riffs. The vocals are harsh and angry and wickedly guttural in parts.

The second track, ‘Brainruler’ is another intense and blistering track. This song could easily find its way on an Exploited setlist. It’s angry, it’s fast and it’s punk as fuck.

The final track, ‘Necronomion’ is the longest track on the EP with a run time of just over five minutes. (that’s almost half the EP, folks) Wolfbrigade slows the pace down as the track starts off with an ominous almost sci-fi movie sound. The gloom and doom sound is followed by a mid-tempo groove. Wolfbrigade really shines on this track with the variety of the musicianship and this is easily the standout track on the EP.

At only three tracks this is a quick listen that you can finish before your first cup of coffee in the morning or last beer in the evening.
