Dan McCafferty, Lead Singer and Vocalist for Rock Band Nazareth has Died


Classic Rock and Proto Heavy Metal legend Dan McCafferty, co-founder and lead singer of the band Nazareth has died. He was 76. No cause of death was revealed, but Dan had health issues for over a decade. Nazareth bassist Pete Agnew confirmed McCafferty’s passing in a statement on Facebook. Hailing from Dunferline, Fife Scotland, Nazareth was a band for 50+ years with many hits such as “Hair of the Dog” and “Love Hurts” – propelled by guitar riffs and Dan’s voice. RIP Dan.

Agnew wrote:

 

“Dan died at 12:40 today.

 

“This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make. Maryann and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived.

 

“Too upset to say anything more at this time.”
