CONCERT REVIEW: Prong – Damn Your Eyes – Blud Red Roses Live at Debonair Music Hall

I’m a big fan of Prong so I was obviously excited back in September when my editor texted me to let me know my request had been approved for the show that evening. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that a few short days later I would be in a horrific car accident that would have me off of commission and bed-bound for a few months. so that night was gonna become more memorable for me as it would be the last one for a while.

The venue was Debonair Music Hall in TeaNeck NJ formerly known as Mexicali Live holding historic history in NJ’s music scene. Along with the name change came several upgrades and has become a cool venue to enjoy a show.

I was able to chat with Tommy, Victor(Danzig), Jason Christopher (Ministry, Stone Sour), and Griffin Mccarthy (Adam And The Metal Hawks) before the show while finding time to do a quick photo shoot. I have seen Prong several times before and I know I can always count on Tommy to deliver god-like riffs while Jason plays as if the sound is fueling his soul. He is always playful in front of my camera making sure I get my shot. Tonight would be a first for me to see drummer Griffin of social media sensations Adam And The Metal Hawks on the drums with Prong.

I got settled just in time for the opener, Blud Red Roses, a band hailing from the Jersey Shore, they had a great sound and an excellent way to start the night.

After a quick change over the next opener Damn Your Eyes took the stage, a 5-piece metal band from Long island. and damn they were good!(see what i did there)

Now that the openers had knocked the cobwebs off my ear drums, I was primed and ready for Prong. No matter how many times I see these guys, when they take the stage I still get goosebumps out of pure excitement of seeing my favorite band. Tonight the guys started off with “Test,” “Disbelief,” and then jumped right into “Whose Fist Is This Anyway.”

The crowd began to hug the stage and bang their heads as Prong once again delivered a energy-filled show. Griffin took over the drums, as if it was a spot made for him. If you haven’t seen Prong I would highly suggest going out of your way to do so. And myself, I’m healing quickly, and am patiently waiting for my next opportunity to see Prong.
