CONCERT REVIEW: Moon Tooth – Johnny Booth – Astronoid: Live at The Gramercy Theatre

The Christmas season is upon us and you know what that means…HOLIDAY SHOWS! Long Island locals Moon Tooth recently put on their holiday bash at the Gramercy Theater in Manhattan and boy, did they sleigh it!

The band put together a Christmas miracle of a line-up featuring Husbandry, Thoughtcrimes (the new project featuring Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Billy Rymer), Johnny Booth, and Astronoid. The night was presented by Saint Vitus and hosted by SiriusXM Liquid Metal host and professional badass Shawn The Butcher.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch Husbandry and Thoughtcrimes were unable to perform, but fellow Long Island heavy-hitters Johnny Booth brought the holiday cheer in the form of their trademark hardcore insanity.

Astronoid came up next and did not disappoint, hypnotizing the audience with their ambient yet intense mix of frenetic instrumentation and soothing, catchy vocals.

The energy in the room grew three sizes that night when the band of the night took the stage. After a heartfelt and rousing intro from Shawn The Butcher, Moon Tooth stormed onto the stage and gave their fans a holly jolly set of riffs, rampage, and passion.

On top of a killer performance, the Moon Tooth crew invited everyone to bring a toy to the show for a Toys For Tots drive to deliver toys to children in need. What a great way to spread the holiday spirit through the uniting power of heavy metal.

Check out the latest singles from Moon Tooth, “Nymphaeace” and “The Conduit” and be sure to keep an eye out for their upcoming new full-length release on Pure Noise Records in 2022.
